The Berliner Arbeiter und Studententheater ('Berlin Workers and Student Theatre')—otherwise known as 'bat' - was founded in the 1960s by Wolf Biermann. Since 1981 it has been part of the Ernst Busch Hochschule für Schauspielkunst (Academy of Theatrical Arts), who still use it as their main stage. Plays by the Academy's students are performed regularly. Most are very good and often have a distinctly political edge. Review © 2009, Wcities |
