With its modern glass facade and elegantly sloping roof, the Berlinale Palast appears to be the perfect home for the Berlin Film Festival. Once inside, however, it is immediately evident that the building was conceived as a musical theatre and not as a cinema. The huge theatre has 1,800 seats and an immense screen, yet views are poor from the upper circle.
