Imaginative Indo-Chinese cuisine |
Weinbergsweg 25 Berlin 10119 +49 30 449 58 96 |
From its humble origins as one of the first Asian snack bars on Rosenthaler Platz, Bistro Viet Nam has grown into an unassuming but pleasant little restaurant offering a variety of tasty Indo-Chinese dishes. Standard fare like crispy duck (in dozens of different permutations), egg fried rice and tofu with oriental vegetables are prepared with fresh ingredients and served in generous portions. Unusual combinations such as fried fish with kidney beans and beef, pork or chicken served on a hot plate with sweetcorn and green beans are proof of the cook's creative talents. Thaplu leaves imported directly from Vietnam are served with duck for that authentic touch often lacking in europeanised oriental cooking. Word of Bistro Viet Nam's delicious food must be out, since even during the week it's difficult to get a table in the less cosy front section, never mind the tempting bamboo-covered niche at the back.
