Friedrichshain is the up-and-coming night-life district. Simon-Dach-Strasse, in particular, is lined with bars on both sides of the street - in stereo, so to speak. Unfortunately, many of the cafes, bars and restaurants appear artificial and overstyled. They desperately want to be fashionable. The Dachkammer falls into this category on first appearances, but if you climb the stairs to the second floor, you'll find a cocktail bar that is original without being over-done. Here, the armchairs are totally outdated and beautifully ugly. And there is a broad balcony from which you peer down on the lively street below. And if you're looking for a bit more action afterwards, the Astro Bar is right next door. Review © 2009, Wcities |
