The National Theatre |
Schumannstraße 13a Berlin, Berlin 10117 +49 (0)30 2844 1221 http://www.deutsches-theater.berlin.net/ |
Located in a classical building—originally erected for the Friedrich-Wilhelmstädtisches Theater in 1849-50—the Deutsches Theater was brought into being by a group of wealthy actors in 1883. Led by director Thomas Langhoff since 1991, the theatre features solid, uncontroversial productions of (mostly) classic pieces. The theatre also hosts readings which generally take place on Sunday afternoons. Visitors can enjoy a meal in the in-house restaurant before performances. Review © 2009, Wcities |
