Large paper bags full of pigment are lined up in rows near the entrance, strangely reminiscent of the spices on sale at an oriental bazaar. This place is so awe-inspiring that even non-artists may get the desire to start painting. A paradise for painters, the shelves are stocked with oils and resins, acrylics, brushes and pencils, sketch books and canvases. Dozens of easels tower over a pile of folders and cases. Founded in 1894, Ferdinand Braune's art shop is conveniently located close to the Academy of Arts on Kleistpark. There is a gallery in the back room where the shop's customers exhibit their works.
