Birthplace of revue theatre |
Friedrichstraße 107 Berlin, Berlin 10117 +49 (0)30 2 3262 x264 http://www.friedrichstadtpalast.de |
Situated on Friedrichstraße, Berlin's biggest revue theatre used to boast the longest line of go-go dancers in the world. That was back in the 'golden twenties', before the original collosseum-like building was demolished and replaced by a faceless socialist concrete block. The performances nowadays are almost as mediocre as the architecture and are mostly aimed at unwitting tourists. Many of the pieces are original, the facilities are first class, the go-go dancers look as scrumptious as ever, but that certain something is missing. Review © 2009, Wcities |
