Small yet phenomenally elegant, Alt-Marienfelde's manor house was redesigned in the mid-19th century according to the fashion of the day. The modernisation of the medieval house included the building of an "English garden" with fountains, statues, gravel walkways and long stretches of lawn. The garden has now been turned into a beautiful public park and is a popular destination for day-trippers. Most people combine a visit to the park with a walk around the historic village and medieval church.
