This expansive train station ceremonially opened in 2006 to coincide with the FIFA World Cup, and has since become one of the busiest hubs of the city. There has been a station on this location for many years, and so the site was already well-connected, boasting a huge network of lines that travel both locally and internationally. In addition to its service as a transportation center, the modern Hauptbahnhof offers travelers a wide range of amenities such restaurants, retail businesses, and technology services. While you wait for a connection, you can buy some fresh flowers, grab a bite to eat while you surf the internet, or pick up a new jacket to ward off the outside chill. The station is located across the River Spree from the Tiergarten park, and can be accessed via the busy Invalidenstrasse.
