The first Internationale Funkausstellung (International Radio Exhibition) took place over 75 years ago to promote the development of radio technology. Initial shows were devoted to radio, while post-war exhibitions were dominated by the development of television. Recent decades have seen incredible progress in the fields of mobile and internet-based technology. Put on every two years, the IFA is Europe's most important exhibition for consumer electronics. While it is largely aimed at trade visitors, the IFA has also become a magnet for the general public, who flock here in droves to check out the next generation of gadgets. Review © 2009, Wcities
