The dried aubergines which hang in great bundles from the ceiling look like a forest turned upside down. Indeed, taller customers have to bow down so not to get their hair caught up in the dried strips of eggplant. Yet this is not just a strange form of Turkish decoration, as a good cook can transform it into a tasty aubergine dish in no time - maybe stuffed with one of the countless vegetable pastes which are lined up inside the glass vitrine. The front of the shop is brimming with fresh vegetables, both normal and exotic. In fact, the shop sells absolutely no meat, which is strange bearing in mind that it was founded by a butcher's daughter. A sign of Knofi's popularity is the fact that it has recently opended up another branch - Knofi on Oranienstraße. Review © 2009, Wcities |
