There are some streets in Friedrichshain where nothing much seems to have changed since the fall of the Wall. The gloomy orange light of the street lamps still struggles to illuminate the wet cobble-stone roads. In comparison, the bright neon light of Simon-Dach-Straße, Friedrichshain's bustling nightlife centre, seems like a different universe. A green neon strip announces the existance of Leander, a pleasant bistro with old wooden floors, antique furniture and romantic lighting. This place has more atmosphere than most of the other establishments on Simon-Dach-Straße put together, and is well-known for its creative cosmopolitan cuisine. Review © 2009, Wcities |
