The glorious times of the former GDR are definitely past, when here in the Stadion der Weltjugend (stadium of the world's youth) the Socialist ideals were meant to inspire the athletes. Today they offer a colourful potpourri in this modern building with an impressive architecture, ranging from basketball cups and dancing competitions over events for the elderly generation as the folk-music Musikantenstadl up to such highlights of the history of pop and rock as Cher, Barry White, Earth, Wind & Fire and Joe Cocker.
