The distinctive rectangular structure of the Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery) was designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1968. The museum houses a wide collection covering most of the 20th century's most significant movements. Included are works by Expressionists like the Brücke Group (see Brücke Museum); New Functionalists such as Otto Dix and George Grosz; Bauhaus art by the likes of Paul Klee and Oskar Schlemmer as well as works from the post-war era including a number by Pablo Picasso. The museum is also host to many highly renowned temporary exhibitions. Review © 2009, Wcities |
