It's the people, not the grey, run down buildings, which make Kastanienallee a colourful and lively place. Full of cafés, snack bars and second hand clothes shops, the young and beautiful flock here in the evening and at weekends. Maybe the most eye-catching of the shops in this area is Sgt. Pepper's, a second hand clothes shop selling the kind of sixties and seventies gear that you would never have dreamt of wearing ten years ago, but which is the cutting edge of fashion nowadays. Check out flary, flowery, wing-collared gear which John, Paul, George & Ringo would have been proud to wear on stage, but also take a look at the ornate ball gowns and cocktail dresses which the shop seems to specialise in.
