Resting place of a modern revolutionary |
Königin-Luise-Str. 55 Zehlendorf Berlin, Berlin 14195 +49 (0)30 831 2872 |
This small, tranquil and leafy cemetery is the resting place of a number of personalities who have had a great influence on the development of modern Germany. Those buried here include Helmut Gollwitzer, an important Lutheran theologian; Edwin Redslob, founder of the Free University of Berlin; and Wertheim, founder of the Wertheim department store chain. The most visited grave here, however, is that of the charismatic leader of the 1967/8 student revolt, Rudi Dutschke. Dutschke died in 1979, ten years after an assasination attempt which had left him crippled. Review © 2009, Wcities |
