When the Turkish Ensemble in the Schaubühne was closed down in 1983, Turkish theatre lovers decided to found a professional Turkish-language theatre to cater to Berlin's 150,000 Turkish residents. The theatre produces plays for children and adults—mostly in Turkish, but sometimes in Turkish and German for children used to speaking both languages. Many of the productions deal with issues specific to Turkish immigrants. There are also guest performances, concerts, lectures and exhibitions. Review © 2009, Wcities
