One of Kreuzberg's most popular off-licences recently opened up new premises in the area around Hackesche Höfe in the new East, between trendy bars, fashionable boutiques and wacky gift shops. Unlike many other shops in the area, Weinhandlung Suff has succeeded in retaining its earthy, old-fashioned atmosphere. The walls are lined with wooden wine cases full of bottles covered in a thick layer of dust. The choice is breathtaking and includes classic French and Italian wines as well as wines from the New World and Australia. Beer enthusiasts too, are in their element - Suff stocks 40 different brands of bottled beer! Mineral water is also on sale, for as Suff's motto goes: "Alcohol damages your health!"
