Although country-western music still reigns in Idaho, the Philharmonic soothes classical music fans with a rich selection of concerts throughout the year. Performing in the Morrison Center for the Performing Arts or Swayne Auditorium in nearby Nampa, the area's best musicians perform everything from Berlioz to Beethoven, often attracting international artists. Bluegrass and folk music drift through the tree-lined slopes at this annual Labor Day weekend festival, located at the Bogus Basin Ski Resort. With views of the Boise Valley and surrounding mountains, the venue can't be beat. Concert-goers can hike through alpine meadows or mellow out with a picnic lunch. From famous fiddlers like Vassar Clements to "new-grass" bands, such as The Floodplain Gang, the music offers something for all folk interests. Tickets run about USD28.50 for the all-day event. The Taco Bell Arena is part of Boise State University. Called the Pavilion, the Arena is a multi-purpose stadium hosting events ranging from the circus to ice shows to concerts. It is also home to the Bronco Athletics, which comprises 17 games that compete for the Western Athletic Conference Division.
