Live rock on two stages, a plethora of arts and crafts, and a beer garden and food court highlight the three-day fair on September's second weekend. A small-time event in past years, it has achieved recent popularity. If you don't like lots of people, don't go. Restaurants, antique shops and other specialty stores will also be open in this quaint commercial district.

Bluegrass and folk music drift through the tree-lined slopes at this annual Labor Day weekend festival, located at the Bogus Basin Ski Resort. With views of the Boise Valley and surrounding mountains, the venue can't be beat. Concert-goers can hike through alpine meadows or mellow out with a picnic lunch. From famous fiddlers like Vassar Clements to "new-grass" bands, such as The Floodplain Gang, the music offers something for all folk interests. Tickets run about USD28.50 for the all-day event.

There are workshops and discussions with professionals and international personalities for the benefit of art lovers and amateur artists. Famous for its big annual snowfall and rugged mountains, Idaho lends its challenging terrain to this annual festival of winter sports. For three weeks, athletes of all ages participate in events ranging from ice-skating to freestyle skiing. Venues include Bogus Basin located close to Boise and Idaho Ice World locate inside Boise. The games are free to watch; however, if you feel up to racing, expect to pay about a bit for entrance fees.
