When you step into the Balcony, you will get a view for sure. Only the view is not picturesque but Gothic Industrial! This bar has a variety of theme nights and entertainment events all through the week. Mardi Gras, Pride Fest, White Party, Bad Girls and Dancing Boys are a few of the hot events that attract huge crowds. The boys are encouraged to take off their shirts and can often be seen dancing on the dance floor with only their jocks for company.

Blues Bouquet

Dance to blues and rock
1010 West Main Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 345 6605
This downtown nightspot offers you no choice but to get your groove on. The charming long, narrow bar has a New Orleans feel to it. The stage, near the back of the bar, draws various local blues, rock and reggae bands. On occasion, the venue features more prominent acts. Open since 1993, this club provides ample seating and two pool tables close to the Main Street entrance. Formerly called the "Bouqet," the bar has been at its original site since 1902. The clientele, although diverse, is generally aged 28-45.

Cactus Bar

Never dull downtown dive
517 West Main Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 342 9732
This dowdy place fills the void for a downtown dive bar. Outdated Western decor seems at home with inexpensive cocktails and draft beers. Weekend nights become crowded and occasionally rowdy, but there's never a dull moment. The jukebox plays a variety of cool tunes, and a pool table resides in the back of the narrow establishment. The clientèle is diverse, and, every so often, the bar features live music.

Crescent Bar and Grill

No frills or lawyers
413 North Orchard Street
Boise, ID 83706
United States
+1 208 322 9856
This what you see is what you get bar has over a dozen big-screen televisions. For the sports nut, the satellite will pick up any game, any time. This neighborhood bar's mantra, "no lawyers," which has been on its sign for decades, holds true. If you practice law, and relish an old-style sports watering hole, keep your mouth shut. Pool tables are free to visitors during the day. The bar's clientèle ranges from college-kids to old-aged. Got the munchies? Standard American fare is served here.

Dutch Goose

Boredom forbidden
3515 West State Street
Boise, ID 83703

For a small escape from downtown's hustle-and-bustle, visit this fun spot. Swallow some succulent steamers from the East Coast, chew on a finger steak and grab your favorite drink. If you get bored, try your luck at the horseshoe pits in the beer garden, football, pool, arcade games or darts. Want some good beer? It's here. Don't miss out on this place.

End Zone

Charming sports dive
1010 Broadway Avenue
Boise, ID 83706
United States
+1 208 384 0613
For the cost-efficient, sports-minded patron or those seeking the irresistible charm of a "dive," this place will pacify your desires. Customers grab 32-ounce "tubs" of cheap beer, toss peanut shells on the floor, mingle with the younger crowd and test their shuffleboard skills—not the shuffleboard played on cruise ships, mind you. If smoke-filled atmospheres don't bother you, this may be your little heaven. The owners/bartenders are also worthwhile conversationalists. The bar is located across the street from Bronco Stadium.

Gernika

Basque in the charm
202 South Capitol Boulevard
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 344 2175
Experience Boise's Basque scene at this cozy, charming downtown eatery. Lamb stew, beef tongue (Saturdays), as well as chorizo and solomo sandwiches decorate this funky menu. Standard fare exists for the less brave, too. Indulge with a 22-ounce Guinness or a glass of Basque wine. If you are just starting the day, gulp an espresso. Tables are sparse, but prized if found. Outdoor seating is also available during the warmer months.

Hannah's

Mainstay offers live rock
621 West Main Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 345 7557
This popular bar is one of the veterans of Boise's downtown nightlife. Live blues and rock acts pound out cover tunes at this centrally located watering hole. The Rocci Johnson Band, an old mainstay, plays its own original tunes here. A balcony overlooks the stage and dance floor. Darts, pool and video games also are located downstairs. Despite a smattering of college students, the clientèle is generally 30 and older.

Interlude Bar and Grill

Restoring history
213 North Eighth Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 342 9593
A fire that gutted this long-time bar in the late 1990s hasn't deterred this popular watering hole. Rebuilt to near exactness of the original, the restaurant and bar continues to serve juicy hamburgers and thirst-quenching beer and cocktails. The long, slender bar opens up to several tables, and a small stage for live music is in the back. Televisions are located throughout the bar, usually tuned in to ESPN. Many capitol building employees, including legislators, have done business and experienced pleasure here.

J.T. Toad's

Cut loose or lounge around
107 South Sixth Street
(corner of Sixth and Main streets)
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 345 2505
This rockin' place is located directly underneath Tom Grainey's Sporting Pub bar and provides an excellent outlet for Boise's rock and funk music scene. Boogie the night away to local disco band "$oul Purpo$e" or hear contemporary classics from "Eazy Loader". The club underwent a facelift in 1998 and created a more lounge like atmosphere. So, if you don't want to get down, lie around. Some advice: Be wary of low ceilings.

Old Chicago

Good beer is here
730 West Idaho Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 363 0037
This local favorite offers one of the best draft beer selections in the area. In fact, there are more than 100 draft and bottled beers from around the planet. Pizzas and Italian-style sandwiches highlight the solid menu. Boise State University (BSU), University of Idaho (UI) and Chicago sports memorabilia, along with numerous televisions, decorate most of the interiors. Many of its patrons are UI and BSU alumni. Weekend nights are often crowded, and the lighting is bright. If you are from Chicago, have fun, but don't expect to feel in your element.

Pengilly's Saloon

Escape the hustle and bustle
513 West Main Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 345 6344
One of Boise's true "local" bars, this saloon has pleased its patrons for decades. In lieu of loud music and gimmicks, the tavern features stiff drinks, great conversation and a laid-back ambience. Its gorgeous old-style serving bar—complete with antique cash register still in use—also complements the high-backed, wooden booths. It's a great escape from the elbow-to-elbow traffic that often defines the downtown's weekend nightlife.

Overlooking Main Street from the second floor of the Capitol Terrace, this restaurant offers a variety of food and beverages. From down-home macaroni and cheese or bangers and mash to Asian salads and entrees, the food is great and the atmosphere warm and friendly. Outside terrace dining is available in good weather. The pub also has Boise's largest assortment of single-malt scotch, don't try them all in one sitting.

Shorty's Country and Western Saloon

Swing your pardner
5467 Glenwood Street
(corner of Glenwood and State streets)
Boise, ID 83714

Hee haw! Jump into those Wrangler's, slap on the Stetson and test your swing-dancin' skills at one of Boise's rowdy country-western clubs. Located across the street from Hawks Memorial Stadium, the tavern features a spacious dance floor along with two bars. From Wednesday through Saturday, check out house band "Redstone". If you don't know how to country-swing, the venue offers dance lessons.

Stagecoach Inn Restaurant & Lounge

Steak-and-potatoes landmark for 40 years
3132 Chinden Boulevard
Boise, ID 83714
United States
+1 208 342 4161
Serving a generous helping of Idaho hospitality and steak-and-potatoes cuisine, this wood-paneled mainstay opened its doors in 1959. While trendy eateries have moved into Boise, this restaurant has kept to its roots. Diners will find Western art and artifacts decorating the restaurant's dark walls, and a menu that looks the same as did it 40 years ago. All cuts of steak are offered from tenderloin tips to prime rib, and the prawns come big, breaded and fried.

Suds Tavern

Tavern tang
1024 Broadway Avenue
Boise, ID 83706
United States
+1 208 345 9656
This bar in Boise is what every person wants and goes for. One is the very minimally priced menu of food and drinks and two is the very prompt service. Three is the thumping music rolled out and four, well that you have to go and find out.

Tenth Street Station

Cozy conversation
104 North 10th Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 344 2677
cah0107@aol.com
For stiff drinks minus the flair, this cozy full-service downtown bar caters to sports enthusiasts and alternative "20-somethings" alike. Local and national sports memorabilia enhance the bar's interior, located in the basement of the historic Idanha Hotel. Conversation is encouraged in this dim, smoky but strangely charming tavern. Although housed in small quarters, chairs and stools take up most of the space. The draft beer selection is limited. If you prefer premium beer, buy it in the bottle.

Tom Grainey's Sporting Pub

Live music hotspot
109 South Sixth Street
(corner of Sixth and Main streets)
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 345 2505
A hotspot for live music, this tavern also is one of Boise's most intimate bars. The immaculate and charming interior makes up for the downtown club's lack of space. Local rock-'n'-roll favorites "The Rebecca Scott Decision" and "Fat John & The Three Slims" jam regularly. There is limited seating, and the dance floor might fit 20 (thin) people. Downstairs is J.T. Toad's, another live music venue.
