Boise Towne Square Mall

Shop 'til you drop
350 North Milwaukee Road
Boise, ID 83788
United States
Getting around to holiday shopping on Christmas Eve? Well, this massive mall and surrounding businesses offer more than what you need. Nearly 200 stores call the mall home, including JC Penney, Mervyn's and the Bon Marche. A movie theater and a plethora of chain restaurants are a stone's throw away. Located at the busiest intersection in the state, the mall is the largest in Idaho. If you don't mind the traffic, it's worth the hassle. The mall area, close to Interstate 84, is a 10-minute drive to the airport and downtown.

Eighth Street Marketplace

Shop and dine in early 1900s warehouse
404 South Eighth Street
Boise, ID 83702
United States
+1 208 344 0641
An early morning stroll through this turn-of-the-century market will take you back in time. Freshly-ground coffee charges the air, and it's only a modern mountain bike leaning against the wall that brings you back to reality. The refurbished, early 1900s warehouses that make up the marketplace now host quaint shops, movie theaters and restaurants such as Cafe Ole Restaurant and Cantina. Comedy lovers can enjoy the Funny Bone Comedy Club or, if athletics are your thing, check out the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame. Arches, skylights and other architectural touches highlight the old warehouses.

For old-world charm, visitors can stroll or cycle through this North End neighborhood. Neat bungalows line 13th Street, brushing up against sports stores, river guides, art galleries, interior decorators, antique shops and tasty restaurants like Lucky 13 and Richard's Across the Street. Close to the downtown area but feeling like a small village within the city, the neighborhood is famous for its Hyde Park Street Fair. This small retail center deserves its place among favorite shopping haunts.

Karcher Mall

Oldest shopping mall
1509 Caldwell Boulevard
Boise, ID 83651
United States
+1 208 465 7845
This boxy, bland building is a strange place to find history, but, as Idaho's oldest shopping mall, it claims a unique place in shopping history. Today, it plays second fiddle to the jazzier and more popular Boise Towne Square Mall. However, local shoppers still congregate to the elder statesman of Idaho malls. Popular department stores like the Bon Marche and Emporium are located here, as well as smaller stores like Radio Shack and Kay Bee Toy Store. Movie-goers will find the Karcher Reel Cinema and hungry shoppers can chow down at a variety of restaurants.

Vista Village

Boise's first shopping center
800 Vista Avenue
Boise, ID 83705
United States
+1 208 342 3528
Boasting the honor of being Boise's original shopping center, this older outdoor strip mall has been overshadowed by Boise Towne Square Mall, Karcher Mall, and Boise Factory Outlet Mall. However, its proximity to downtown Boise makes it an excellent resource. It is also home to several outstanding stores like outdoor specialists Intermountain Outdoor Sports and woodworking headquarters, Woodcraft Supply. Located between the Boise Train Depot and the Boise Airport, the mall also hosts the Antique Village and Needle Works Studio.
