75 Chestnut Street Boston, MA 02108 +1 617 227 2175 http://www.75chestnut.com/ Restaurantmanager@75chestnut.com |
This quiet nook of a restaurant adds its own touch of class, elegance and comfort to Beacon Hill. The restaurant's bistro-like interior, detailed with burnished mahogany is warmed by its cozy and friendly ambiance, which also doubles as a dimly lit romantic place to bring a date. Pan-seared salmon with quinoa, herb-crusted rack of lamb, avocado and macadamia nut-crusted sea bass and veal chop with rosemary polenta are just a few of the options on the New American menu. The bar and its wine list are impressive as well. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Well-known chef Todd English and his wife, Olivia, run this intimate eatery, which serves gourmet pizzas in a tiny dining room. Visitors and locals alike linger over long lunches and inventive dinners in this cozy establishment. Unusual pizza toppings, including white clams, figs and prosciutto, and calamari, draw a sophisticated crowd. Pasta dishes and risotto round out the Italian menu. Figs, which serves beer and wine, is less expensive than the Englishs' other restaurant, Olives, but the experience is just as memorable. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Harvard Gardens, located in Beacon Hill near Massachusetts General Hospital, offers a causal atmosphere for diners. It is nice and bright with off-white walls. The menu changes frequently, but this establishment is well known for its thin-crusted pizza and comfort food like macaroni and cheese. This place doesn't believe in being pretentious; so the main concern is food and quality, if not fine dining. You can for once, forget about your tie not matching your attire and just relish simple cuisine with wine. Enjoy a wholesome meal of pasta, scallops, mac & cheese in the candle lit interiors while the regular office-goers continue with their banter. The friendly and courteous wait staff makes the experience more than worthwhile. So just sit back and enjoy your meal! Review © 2007, Wcities |
Intimate setting, unique meals |
97 Mount Vernon Street Boston, MA 02108 +1 617 720 5511 http://www.lalarokh.com/ info@lalarokh.com |
Antique maps and calligraphy set the mood for the unusual food at this popular Persian restaurant in Beacon Hill. You will recognize the ingredients (beef, chicken, lamb, eggplant), but not the results. The helpful staff will guide you through the inscrutable food names and unfamiliar dishes, and you will emerge with an education and a taste for this cuisine. Save room for baklava. Function rooms seating up to 65 people are available. The restaurant serves beer and wine. Review © 2007, Wcities |
Bar and restaurant |
60 School Street Omni Parker House Boston, MA 02108 +1 617 227 8600 http://www.omnihotels.com/Find... |
The Omni Parker House Hotel named this establishment after a saying coined by former Boston mayor James Michael Curley. The Last Hurray Bar & Grill, modeled after the traditional American bar, used to be a political hot spot, but that isn't the case today. Its location in the Financial District means it draws in the business crowd. The restaurant serves burgers and sandwiches and is known for its award-winning clam chowder. It also offers a number of continental and American specialties. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Formalities Rule |
3 Winterplace Boston, MA 02108 +1 617 542 1340 http://www.lockeober.com/ info@lockeober.com |
Dine in style at this posh restaurant, where the atmosphere is very formal, and the food, highly appreciated. Abuzz with celebs, foodies and the elite, it takes just one meal here to obtain a patron's loyalty. The well-restored interiors gleam as one enters, but ask to be seated away from the rather crowded entrance. Pay great attention to your clothing; they have been known to turn away folks who don't stick to the formal code. Let the attentive wait staff serve Cape Scallops and Bacon on Skewers, Beef Stroganoff with Egg Noodles, and Crisped Duck with Elderberry and Ginger. A good wine list enhances the dining experience. The service is a tad slow, but the sights, aromas and flavors of the place make up for it plentifully! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Asian restaurants come and go, but Bostonians should hope that this one is here to stay. The restaurant's interior features glass windows that slide open to give the place an airy feel in the warmer months. Try the sushi or the green bean, orange and lychee salad. The Hunan dumplings, dim sum basket and grilled eggplant appetizers are popular. The sashimi and California rolls are fresh. The Tao General Chicken, a spicy tai dish, is a very popular entree. Upscale French-Italian cuisine |
9 Park Street Boston, MA 02108 +1 617 742 9991 http://www.no9park.com info@no9park.com |
This French-Italian restaurant, located in the shadow of the State House, has become one of Boston's hottest eateries since its opening in 1998. The dark and cool interior has cherry wood and indigo walls for a modern, elegant feel. The menu blends European influences and New England ingredients. Appetizers include foie gras ravioli served with quince and parsnips. Crispy duck served with black figs and mustard slaw is amazing. Desserts are superb. Try the Vanilla Bread Pudding or Sweet Potato Pithivier. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beacon Hill landmark |
44 Charles Street Boston, MA 02114 +1 617 720 1152 |
Located in Beacon Hill, the Paramount is a typical diner that serves lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is casual without a lot of fancy décor. For the dinner crowd, things get a little dressier as table cloths and candlelight give the place a more intimate atmosphere. The food served here could be described as typical American with pastas, stir-fries, ribs, burgers, sandwiches and omelets among the offerings. Comfort food like meatloaf and grilled cheese are also menu standards. The Spinach Ricotta Ravioli entrée is a favorite. Alcohol is served. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This restaurant, located in The Omni Parker House Hotel, is the home of Boston cream pie, but that isn't the only draw. This elegant establishment, with its dark woodwork and glimmering chandeliers, offers traditional New England cuisine with an upscale twist. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served; the menu changes seasonally and features such favorites as pot roast and boiled dinners. The clam chowder is excellent as are the seafood entrees. Simple bistro cooking |

The food at Pierrot is exactly like the description of the ancient character its name is derived from: "honest and self-effacing." There are no complicated and over-the-top dishes here. Taking a look at the menu you're likely to find dishes like Saucisses maison pomme-purée (Sausages with Mashed Potatoes) or Steak minute Bearnaise, pommes frites (Steak with Fries) all prepared in the classic, French-bistro style. With simple, inexpensive fare, this bistro offers a cultural dining experience that is definitely easy on the wallet. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Go up the Spire |
90 Tremont Street Boston, MA 02108 +1 617 772 0202 http://www.spirerestaurant.com/ info@spirerestaurant.com |
Chef Gabriel Frasca brings along with him the scents and wafts of Italy, France and Portugal. It would be interesting to note that Frasca was pursuing a career in journalism before sauntering into the foodland. The mood with the lilac sheers and long French windows is exceedingly romantic, but then business meetings are not exactly barred at this fine restaurant. Picked as one of America's 50 Best Hotel Restaurants by "Food and Wine", the veals and continental steaks are on the much recommended list. The wineyards of Europe have been scoured to fill up Spire's cellar. Banquet services and private dining are available, so is parking for a fixed fee. Review © 2007, Wcities |
