Bloom

Dine in style at a mall
1 West Flatiron Circle
(Flatiron Crossing Mall)
Boulder, CO 80021
United States
+1 720 887 2800
http://www.tasteofbloom.com
This could possibly be the first time the words "fine dining in a mall" have ever been used together in a sentence. This "my-oh-my-this-place-is-certainly-nice" type restaurant has been the talk of the Denver dining scene since it first opened. The interior is contemporary and harbors big windows with big views of the big mall area. The food is top-notch in both taste and presentation. Lamb, halibut and pork chops are just a few of its dinner offerings. There are also pasta and salad options.

Boulder Cafe

Patio seating on the mall
1247 Pearl Street
Boulder, CO 80302

One of the most noticeable landmarks on the Pearl Street Mall, the Boulder Café occupies a beautifully refurbished Victorian building. While the bar and dining room exude a stylish air, the ambiance is casual. The outdoor patio is perfect for people watching. Fondue is the house specialty, but the pizzas, piled with fresh toppings on a crispy thin crust, are also excellent. The weekend brunch is popular and includes a tasty Eggs Benedict.

Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse

Tea with culture
1770 13th Street
Boulder, CO 80302
United States
+1 303 442 4993
http://www.boulderteahouse.com/
Boulder's sister city Dushanbe, Tajikistan, donated this ornate building to the City of Boulder more than decade ago. Builders imported and erected more than 30 tons of material to build the structure, which was finished in 1988. It quickly assumed a prominent role in Boulder history. Now a popular gathering place among locals, this cultural spot serves an array of exotic cuisine (Burmese Coconut Curry and Tajik Plov for example) and fine teas in rooms boasting bright designs and colorful African artifacts.

Cafe Gondolier

Wonderfully priced Italian
1738 Pearl Street
Boulder, CO 80302
United States
+1 303 443 5015
http://www.cafegondolier.com/
Located in the space once occupied by the old Harvest Restaurant, just down the block from the Pearl Street Mall, this gem of a restaurant is like wandering around only to find Bruce Wayne's Bat Cave. It is worth finding, however, for it offers great Italian fare at great prices. Bright flags hanging from the high ceiling cast an Italian Alps type feel to the room. The ambiance is both urban and casual. Pizza is the main draw and features odd topping choices such as shrimp, artichokes and chopped clams. Specialty items include Chicken Fettuccini and Stuffed Shells. All of the pasta is homemade. The outdoor patio is the place to be during warm weather.

Cafe Louie

A meal to remember
825 Walnut Street
Boulder, CO 80302
United States
+1 303 449 8402
Located in a converted Victorian home, this standing-ovation of a restaurant is the perfect place to dine if you need to impress. The interior incorporates a "less is more" decorating philosophy, and with the exception of a few plastic trees, it reeks of "now-this-is-sharp-looking" appeal. The private upstairs dining room and deck is ideal for business gatherings. The contemporary menu is full of twists and includes North African Pheasant, spinach fettucine with lobster medallions, and New Zealand Red Deer.

EnVie

Contemporary, but casual
1738 Pearl Street
Boulder, CO 80203
United States
+1 303 417 1240
This somewhat new addition to the Boulder dining scene meshes a strange mix of coffeehouse chic with wine tasting elegance to create a "this-place-is-happening" feel. Sleek dinner tables are bordered by sofas for the coffee drinking crowd, while the other end features a grand piano that invites guest musicians to play during lunch and dinner. Seeing a pianist in jeans and T-shirt at a grand piano during lunch is odd, but strangely refreshing. Salads, steak, pasta and seafood bolster the dinner menu.

Romance and French food
12311 North Street Vrain Drive
Boulder, CO 80540
United States
+1 303 823 6521

This rustic country restaurant, just outside of Boulder, could easily reside off some lonesome road outside of Draguignan-it drips with French influences. Couples find themselves seduced by the homey ambience, intimacy and exceptional views. The changing menu has a definite French lean, featuring Wild game Rangout and Sauteed Sweetbread. Be sure to try its award-winning Maryland crab soup. The wine list focuses on some of the more obscure French vineyards.

Just the mere fact that this restaurant is not a chain is reason alone to try its menu. Everything about this family owned, authentic Italian bistro, from the service to the food, exudes style and grace. The entrees, all of which emphasize natural ingredients, feature true Italian dishes like Beffsteak Fiorentina and Risotto di Mare. Nightly specials change daily. A true experience is tasting some of the estate-bottled olive oils, which are available for purchase.

Sunflower Restaurant

Alternative fine dining
1701 Pearl Street
Boulder, CO 80302
United States
+1 303 440 0220
Organic is not a term normally associated with fine dining, but this "only-in-Boulder" restaurant pulls it off nicely. Brick walls and simple wooden tables and booths manage to create a casual, yet deceptively elegant feel. The Ocean Garden Salad, featuring a sorted mix of "hmm-what-is-this" sea vegetables, sets the tone for what to expect. Chilean Sea Bass and Tempeh Scaloppini are two of the more popular entrees. The bar serves organic beer and wine, and all of the deserts are free of refined sugar.

Tom's Tavern

Great burgers
1047 Pearl Street
Boulder, CO 80302
United States
+1 303 442 9363
If you really want to know Boulder head over to Toms, and hang with the old town regulars. Best known for giant, juicy burgers and thick cut fries, the tavern serves other American classics including meatloaf and fried chicken. A dimly lit atmosphere, a jukebox playing classic rock, and big, comfortable booths make this a perfect alternative to the trendy bistros peppering the Pearl Street Mall. The casual place is anything but fancy, but the staff is rumored to be the friendliest in town.

Another member of the local success Rock Bottom Restaurants, which owns Denver's Rock Bottom Brewery, Chophouse and Old Chicago, this favorite watering hole sits just off the Pearl Street Mall. Occupying an old warehouse, the restaurant provides a relaxed setting for a night out on the town. Watch the brewing process over dinner, or ask for an outside table for a view of downtown. The menu offers a nice choice between typical pub fare of burgers, salads and Mexican dishes, or highbrow meals such as New York strip steak and shrimp and ahi fettuccine.
