Cactus Canteen, located in the popular Lanes (The) area, has a real fun atmosphere for a meal out. The decor over the two floors and roof terrace reflects the Mexican theme with chilli posters, cowboys and cacti. Fresh ingredients are used in all dishes—and there are plenty to choose from. For a starter, try Santa Fe Skins consisting of crisp potato skins with a topping of your choice. Main courses include quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, chillies, beanburgers, steaks and ribs. Who could resist warm blueberry muffins with cold ice cream? For those with smaller stomachs there is a children's menu at only £3.50. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Brighton's No.1 Mex-Tex diner |
47 Preston Street Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2HP United Kingdom +44 1273 32 5275 http://www.digintheribs.co.uk |
Established for over 10 years, Dig In the Ribs continues to provide excellent Tex-Mex food in a noisy setting. Expect a lively crowd, especially at weekends. Be warned, all meals are enormous and a starter could be quite filling in itself. Choose from Texas Cob, Potato Scoops or Nachos Platos - a king-size plate of corn chips accompanied by refried beans, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. The choice is endless, ranging from ribs, chicken and steaks to burritos, fajitas, and tacos. Desserts are delicious. The restaurant is very child friendly and will liquidise, sterilise or just serve up the kid's menu for them. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Momma and soul |

Yes, yes, yes, soul food comes to Great Britain, and is served up in bright bright Brighton! Mouthwatering Nachos Supreme and Catfish Goujons with Hushpuppies, all wait for your attention. But it is a real toss up between Momma Cherri's Jambalaya and Rev. Daisy's Southern Fried Chicken is an option if you are fine with oil dripping in your plate and then clogging your arteries. Southern soul food is what Momma serves up, a kind of cuisine relatively new to Brightonites. Or maybe it is the TLC working? Review © 2007, Wcities |

This two level establishment with large bar and Cajun restaurant has been serving drinkers and diners since the 1990's. The bar is on the ground floor with soft seats near the windows for relaxation. Climb the stairs and one finds the large restaurant offering some very tempting dishes. For those who don't require a full meal, snacks are readily available. The restaurant menu is huge and enticing, especially for those who enjoy spicy food. Desserts such as Profiterole Mountain and Oreo Cookie Madness will satisfy any sweet tooth. For the young, a children's menu is available. Review © 2007, Wcities |
