Eat well |
95-97 Church Road Hove Brighton, East Sussex BN3 2BA United Kingdom +44 1273 73 4193 |
This well established restaurant has been in existence since 1977. Recent refurbishment now allows seating for up to 150 curry eaters. The Ashoka is well decorated and smart with a pleasant atmosphere. The traditional, yet extensive, menu offers a good selection of vegetarian and meat options and a choice of fish dishes. Although this restaurant is slightly more expensive than some of the others in this area, the excellent service contributes towards an enjoyable eating experience. Be sure to try the special Sunday buffet lunch from midday-3p. The restaurant is "allergy aware" and will prepare meals to customer requirements. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cactus Canteen, located in the popular Lanes (The) area, has a real fun atmosphere for a meal out. The decor over the two floors and roof terrace reflects the Mexican theme with chilli posters, cowboys and cacti. Fresh ingredients are used in all dishes—and there are plenty to choose from. For a starter, try Santa Fe Skins consisting of crisp potato skins with a topping of your choice. Main courses include quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, chillies, beanburgers, steaks and ribs. Who could resist warm blueberry muffins with cold ice cream? For those with smaller stomachs there is a children's menu at only £3.50. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Brighton's No.1 Mex-Tex diner |
47 Preston Street Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2HP United Kingdom +44 1273 32 5275 http://www.digintheribs.co.uk |
Established for over 10 years, Dig In the Ribs continues to provide excellent Tex-Mex food in a noisy setting. Expect a lively crowd, especially at weekends. Be warned, all meals are enormous and a starter could be quite filling in itself. Choose from Texas Cob, Potato Scoops or Nachos Platos - a king-size plate of corn chips accompanied by refried beans, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. The choice is endless, ranging from ribs, chicken and steaks to burritos, fajitas, and tacos. Desserts are delicious. The restaurant is very child friendly and will liquidise, sterilise or just serve up the kid's menu for them. Review © 2007, Wcities |

For nearly ten years Los Amigos has been serving fine Latin food. There's seating for over 70 and the setting is smart but laid back and lively. Be sure to book at weekends: there is live music and a real party atmosphere. A good selection of beers, wines and cocktails are on offer. The menu is huge and making a decision might take a while. Options are plentiful for veggies and meat eaters alike. Paella for up to four can be ordered (£20.95-£39.95) but allow half an hour for preparation. For those who prefer the comfort of their own abode, a delivery service is available from 6pm-11pm daily. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This intimate little restaurant is located under one of the King's Road Arches right down on the seafront, next to the West Pier and brand new paddling pool and play area. They are open all day and evening serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is beautifully presented and dishes such as Thai Crab Cakes with spaghetti mouli or Marrakesh Griddled Chicken with saffron rice taste as good as they sound. There is a children's menu, highchairs and a selection of organic babyfood in jars for those fussier eaters. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tex-Mex supreme |
128 Western Road Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2AD United Kingdom +44 1273 74 7111 |
Paris Texas is only 10 minutes from Churchill Square, this is a popular and highly rated American Bistro. The restaurant has been awarded a coveted Les Routiers Cuisine Award. It is an ideal place for coffees, light lunches and evening meals. High quality food is always cooked freshly on the premises by the owner and chef, Karl Simpson. For an afternoon snack one would certainly recommend the Lunch Nachos (around GBP4), a huge plate of corn chips smothered in cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacomole served with a fresh salad. Tasty evening meals include burritos, Smoked Salmon Tortilla Wraps and tasty tuna steaks. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Famous for tea and scones |
1 High Street Brighton TN33 0AE United Kingdom +44 (0)1424 77 2314 http://www.thepilgrimsrestaura... |
This restaurant is located in the town of Battle, around 28 miles from Brighton. It is housed in a 15th Century edifice and it was used to house monks visiting the close by Battle Abbey, built by William the Conqueror to commemorate the Battle of Hastings. Lots of tourists hop in for its tea and scones. However, you can always have some meat and vegetable dishes, all made from fresh local produce. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Baked Wonders |
86/87 Western Road Brighton BN3 1JB United Kingdom +44 1273 221 444 http://www.real-eating.co.uk/h... |
The Real Eating Company is a very famous bakery in Britain and has an outlet in Hove as well. If you have kids, they will have a field day with the various cookies and candies here. They also have a separate 'children's menu' keeping in mind their appetites and palates. With an ambiance suitable for family dining, one can visit for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Opt for puddings or cakes with ice-cream, if you're in the mood for something sweet and creamy. For those who love cheese, try the British cheese plate with somerset apple brandy. 'Rib-eye steak, field mushroom, chips, watercress and béarnaise sauce' is a good choice for those who are really hungry. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Fantastic meatless dishes |
71 East Street Brighton BN1 1HQ United Kingdom +44 (0)1273 72 9051 http://www.terreaterre.co.uk |
This vegetarian restaurant has achieved national acclaim for its fine cuisine. Unlike many vegetarian restaurants, Terre a Terre presents dishes that are made with a light, sophisticated touch. The decor is chic and modern, but takes on an altogether more romantic tone with candles and dimmed lighting in the evening. The food is simply superb—it is beautifully presented, the Twice Baked Camembert Soufflé is divine. This is a deservedly popular restaurant. Be sure to book in advance. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cool cafe bar at Seven Dials |
95-97 Dyke Road Brighton, East Sussex BN1 3SU United Kingdom +44 1273 77 7575 http://www.tindrum.co.uk |
The Tin Drum can be found at the Seven Dials, a 10 minute walk from Churchill Square. No-one would believe that in a previous incarnation this lively cafe bar was once a late night supermarket. The spacious interior now has large windows at the front, ambient lighting and brightly painted back walls. Wooden furniture, books on shelves and local art work add a homely touch. The Tin Drum is also child friendly and high chairs & crayons can be provided. The food menu has a Polish slant and is extremely inviting. Starters include delights such as goats cheese and red onion tartlets. Mains are equally good. Try potato rosti with sauerkraut and apple topped with poached egg and gruyere. Review © 2007, Wcities |
