Brighton Pagoda

Culinary worship of the Orient
Brighton Marina, West Jetty
Brighton, East Sussex BN2 5WA
United Kingdom
+44 1273 81 9053
http://www.brightonpagoda.co.u...
The inside of the floating Brighton Pagoda is rather old and traditional, but gives a warm and cosy ambience. The best thing about this restaurant is the view over the sea. The Pagoda has a bright upper deck and a more subdued lower deck, for evening dining. With seating for over 100 - it could be the ideal venue for parties. The menu is quite extensive and should feature something for every taste. The shredded duck spring roll starter was delicious at just over £3 and for mains no dish tops £6.50. The fillet of beef was good, if a little dry, but vegetarians are also amply catered for.

Cafe Shanghai

Chinese food express
111 Western Road
Brighton, East Sussex BN3 2AF
United Kingdom

There's a great choice and generous portions at this Western Road eatery. Although it is a few minutes walk from the central Brighton shopping area, it is worth the effort. All Hove buses from Churchill Square stop right outside the door. This large establishment is well decorated with cheery yellow walls, tasteful paintings and a fresh blue carpet. Starters include Pancake Rolls with nearly 30 appetizers to choose from. Try the fried mixed vegetables in black bean sauce or Chicken Cashew with rice.

China China offers good value fast food to visitors and locals. Take away meals or eat indoors amid fiery red furniture and fresh white walls. There's loads to choose from : noodles, soups, and plenty of meat and fish dishes. Not much choice for vegetarians though. For the more adventurous, try shredded roast duck or crispy pork in porridge, followed by a chrysanthemum tea, if you dare.

Gar's

Choice Chinese cuisine
19 Prince Albert Street
The Lanes
Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1HF
United Kingdom

Gar's has been serving fine Oriental cuisine for over 10 years. The fantastic smell emanating from this restaurant is enough to make anyone feel hungry. Once tempted inside, light yellow surroundings and Chinese lanterns transport the diner to a world of Eastern promise. Pay no more than £5 for an appetizer or share the special hors d'oeuvre mix including sesame prawns, chicken satay, capital spare ribs and rich squid in salt and chili. Only £12, this starter could be a meal in itself. Why not opt for a three course menu, a great value at £15.50 per head? For those with gigantic appetites the Emperor's menu should suffice!

Golden Palace has been serving enjoyable Chinese food for some time. Situated opposite Bar Med on the Western Road it is often busy and booking is advisable. Seating around 40 people, clean fresh decor and huge sparkling mirrors add to a light spacious environment. A comprehensive menu offers plenty to choose from. Iron Griddle Sizzlers are especially appetizing. Eight set menus at around £15 per person offer three huge courses which could easily feed a couple. A reasonable selection of wines and beers is also available.

Wagamama

Crave-worthy Noodle Canteen
30 Kensington Street
(Argus Building)
Brighton BN1 4AJ
United Kingdom
+ 44 0 1273 688 892
http://www.wagamama.com
Wagamama serves up a pan-Asian cuisine that features a fusion of eclectic traditional favorites with modern flavors. The fare is made fresh and all items are featured on a dietary menu, allowing guests full access to the ingredients in their food. Orders are taken via electronic pads, meaning that preparation begins in the kitchen as soon as you have made a choice on what to order. Dishes come to the table in the order that they are prepared, which can be problematic for groups who want to eat together. Start off with a range of dumplings, or dive right into the kare noodle soups. The atmosphere is also a major draw with lots of open, light space and minimalist décor. The end result is a dining experience that has only grown in popularity as new locations have opened worldwide.
