Browns has been a favourite local restaurant for well over ten years - its eclectic well-presented food and relaxed atmosphere continues to pull in the crowds. The decor at Browns creates a fresh and exclusive feel. Light wooden floors and pale walls are separated by a generous interjection of palm trees that takes its diners back to the colonial era. One thing about Browns is that you can always rely on the menu to include some good staple pasta, salad and meat-dishes. Prices for main courses tend to hover around the £10 level, but servings are generous, often making a starter superfluous. The Coach House is a cafe, bar and restaurant so feel free to stop by for a full meal or just a quick drink. The restaurant is very attractive with sunny, bright decor and lots of greenery. The bar and lovely outdoor courtyard area are also popular with the twenties/thirties crowd. Food is delicious. With strong connections to the renowned English's Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant and a position next to the premier performing arts centre Komedia, Curve has some impressive friends. Beautifully styled, Curve has a great location for a coffee in the afternoon or a full meal in the evening. Starters like the local organic mushrooms in puff pastry with a white wine and cream sauce are a treat. Main courses like roast crispy duck, venison sausages and mediterranean vegetable wellington are just a small selection of what is on offer. In total contrast to the lively Fitz's bar downstairs, this restaurant is relaxed and sedate with top London chef, Leighton Jones, creating a predominantly fish menu using only the finest and freshest of locally caught ingredients. Main courses start at reasonable rates and the piece de resistance is the Seafood Platter for two includes a whole dressed lobster, crab claws and oysters amongst other fishy offerings. The restaurant is opposite the Theatre Royal and next door to The Dome, which makes it perfect for a pre or post theatre meal. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Stunningly stylish, Havana attracts a well dressed crowd of diners. Incredibly clean, cream decor with dark wood and beautifully set tables, this restaurant is not for those who want fast food. The front serves as a cafe bar during the day and a cocktail lounge at night. Breakfasts have recently been added to the menu and there are several lovingly prepared lunches on offer. This intimate little restaurant is located under one of the King's Road Arches right down on the seafront, next to the West Pier and brand new paddling pool and play area. They are open all day and evening serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is beautifully presented and dishes such as Thai Crab Cakes with spaghetti mouli or Marrakesh Griddled Chicken with saffron rice taste as good as they sound. Well known for serving local and visiting thespians, including Joan Collins and Joanna Lumley, the restaurant is situated in a basement building and operates a kind of one way system for entry and exit. This friendly and hip venue on three floors houses a renowned Brighton cafe which puts on a wide variety of events almost every night, from live music to poetry, for a small entrance fee. They also provide board games to play whilst drinking your coffee. Originally a completely vegetarian cafe, the menu has recently expanded to offer Burmese, European and African cuisine. This vegetarian restaurant has achieved national acclaim for its fine cuisine. Unlike many vegetarian restaurants, Terre a Terre presents dishes that are made with a light, sophisticated touch. The decor is chic and modern, but takes on an altogether more romantic tone with candles and dimmed lighting in the evening.
