Eat well |
95-97 Church Road Hove Brighton, East Sussex BN3 2BA United Kingdom +44 1273 73 4193 |
This well established restaurant has been in existence since 1977. Recent refurbishment now allows seating for up to 150 curry eaters. The Ashoka is well decorated and smart with a pleasant atmosphere. The traditional, yet extensive, menu offers a good selection of vegetarian and meat options and a choice of fish dishes. Although this restaurant is slightly more expensive than some of the others in this area, the excellent service contributes towards an enjoyable eating experience. Be sure to try the special Sunday buffet lunch from midday-3p. The restaurant is "allergy aware" and will prepare meals to customer requirements. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Truly kitsch |
Kingsway Court First Avenue Brighton, East Sussex BN3 2LR United Kingdom +44 1273 32 3810 |
Hidden underneath a large block of flats in Hove, the Bali Brasserie can be difficult to locate. Once inside the building the first port of call is the Bali bar. The decor is quite bizarre as it clearly hasn't altered since the 1970s. The walls are lined with bamboo and plastic flowers and the bar is covered in tiny mirror tiles. Tacky is not the word. You are welcome to stop by for drinks but then you would be missing the food. The restaurant itself is large and more subtle. The staff are dressed in traditional costume to add an authentic feel. Food is exceptionally good and the menu varied. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Delicious doorsteps |
81 George Street Hove Brighton, East Sussex BN3 3YE United Kingdom +44 1273 77 6776 |
This cheap and cheerful cafe has been established for some years. Blossoms is mainly frequented by locals and shoppers who make good use of the cafe. Decor is fairly plain but no-one seems to mind as they're too busy eating. All food is home cooked and very good. Start the morning with a hearty breakfast (available all day) for a lunch time snack, a selection of quiches, salads, jackets and soups. The food here really is above average in quality. Traditional Watering Hole |
3 Stirling Place Brighton BN3 3YU United Kingdom +44 1273 73 3134 |
The Forager is one of the Brighton's oldest watering holes and also one of its most popular. An extremely clean and hygienic bar, the ambiance at Forager is inviting and since the products are locally sourced, the food is extremely fresh. Unlike most British pubs, it caters pretty well to vegetarian customers as they have a decent choice to choose from. For those who love meat, be sure to try out the beef here. Forager has acoustic instruments, slot machines and music as well, though which is barely audible with all buzzing conversations around. Review © 2007, Wcities |

15 Blatchington Road Hove Brighton, East Sussex BN3 3YP United Kingdom +44 1273 73 9780 |
Karim's, in West Hove is a perennial winner of best curry house by the Curry Club. Karim's can certainly be recommended for clean, fresh surroundings and delicious food. Walls are a lively bright yellow and tableware is smart. Modern jazz music replaces traditional Indian sounds. The menu is varied but perhaps a little pricey. Starters such as Aloo Pakora and try the hot and dry Vegetable Ceylon or the Salmon Palak served with a hot orange and ginger sauce, pilaw and wild rice. Accompany your meal with chilli nan bread. All meals are beautifully presented and are of excellent quality. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Popular with locals and visitors to the area, the restaurant becomes very busy at weekends and booking is certainly advisable. 35 tapas, including all the favourites, are offered. Baked Wonders |
86/87 Western Road Brighton BN3 1JB United Kingdom +44 1273 221 444 http://www.real-eating.co.uk/h... |
The Real Eating Company is a very famous bakery in Britain and has an outlet in Hove as well. If you have kids, they will have a field day with the various cookies and candies here. They also have a separate 'children's menu' keeping in mind their appetites and palates. With an ambiance suitable for family dining, one can visit for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Opt for puddings or cakes with ice-cream, if you're in the mood for something sweet and creamy. For those who love cheese, try the British cheese plate with somerset apple brandy. 'Rib-eye steak, field mushroom, chips, watercress and béarnaise sauce' is a good choice for those who are really hungry. Review © 2007, Wcities |
