The Agra has been established for more than six years and has space for over 50 diners. The decor is modern and clean; the ambience lively and informal. Booking is advisable, especially at weekends, as this is a very popular venue with Brighton curry eaters. 95-97 Church Road Hove Brighton, East Sussex BN3 2BA United Kingdom +44 1273 73 4193 |
This well established restaurant has been in existence since 1977. Recent refurbishment now allows seating for up to 150 curry eaters. The Ashoka is well decorated and smart with a pleasant atmosphere. The traditional, yet extensive, menu offers a good selection of vegetarian and meat options and a choice of fish dishes. Although this restaurant is slightly more expensive than some of the others in this area, the excellent service contributes towards an enjoyable eating experience. China China offers good value fast food to visitors and locals. Take away meals or eat indoors amid fiery red furniture and fresh white walls. There's loads to choose from : noodles, soups, and plenty of meat and fish dishes. Not much choice for vegetarians though. For the more adventurous, try shredded roast duck or crispy pork in porridge, followed by a chrysanthemum tea, if you dare. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Thai Café @ Circus Circus has undergone a dramatic transformation. What once was a dark, airless pub is now a bright, breezy eaterie just across the street from the Duke of York's Cinema. Popular with office workers at lunchtime and early evening; the crowd is mixed later on. An extensive menu, including Thai cuisine is on offer from breakfasts and baguettes to full meals. This is quality cuisine at very reasonable prices. Desserts are home-made and Chunky Paprika Fries are quite wonderful. Review © 2007, Wcities |

In total contrast to the lively Fitz's bar downstairs, this restaurant is relaxed and sedate with top London chef, Leighton Jones, creating a predominantly fish menu using only the finest and freshest of locally caught ingredients. Main courses start at reasonable rates and the piece de resistance is the Seafood Platter for two includes a whole dressed lobster, crab claws and oysters amongst other fishy offerings. This intimate little restaurant is located under one of the King's Road Arches right down on the seafront, next to the West Pier and brand new paddling pool and play area. They are open all day and evening serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is beautifully presented and dishes such as Thai Crab Cakes with spaghetti mouli or Marrakesh Griddled Chicken with saffron rice taste as good as they sound. Conveyor belt cuisine |
The Opticon Bartholomew Square Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1JS United Kingdom +44 1273 71 9195 http://www.moshimoshi.co.uk |
This is Moshi Moshi's first venture outside London. The radically designed building was built especially for the restaurant and features an entire glass wall which slides out in good weather. The perfectly presented sushi passes by your table on a conveyor belt (kaiten) and you select whatever takes your fancy. Salmon sashimi (raw fish) on a bed of rice is just perfect. Don't worry if you don't know a thing about sushi, the staff will guide you in your choices. Lunch is around £10 which is a bargain for the ambience and exquisite food. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Indian in The Lanes |
70-71 Ship Street The Lanes Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1AE United Kingdom +44 1273 32 9405 |
The popular and established Noori's, situated in Ship Street, is easily reached from North Street or the seafront. The smart but relaxed surroundings - featuring pink-hued but subtle table decorations - seat around 60 people. There are a large selection of Balti dishes such as Zeera Harsha consisting of duck pieces stir fried with black and white cumin seeds. It is also possible to obtain some of the popular vegetarian side dishes, such as Sag Aloo, Aloo Gobi and Chana Bhajee, as full main courses if required. Food is of excellent quality and very fresh. Frozen vegetables are not used at Noori's and real chillies, rather than chilli powder, appear in the hotter curries. Although slightly more expensive than other restaurants Noori's is well worth a visit. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tex-Mex supreme |
128 Western Road Brighton, East Sussex BN1 2AD United Kingdom +44 1273 74 7111 |
Paris Texas is only 10 minutes from Churchill Square, this is a popular and highly rated American Bistro. The restaurant has been awarded a coveted Les Routiers Cuisine Award. It is an ideal place for coffees, light lunches and evening meals. High quality food is always cooked freshly on the premises by the owner and chef, Karl Simpson. For an afternoon snack one would certainly recommend the Lunch Nachos (around GBP4), a huge plate of corn chips smothered in cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacomole served with a fresh salad. Tasty evening meals include burritos, Smoked Salmon Tortilla Wraps and tasty tuna steaks. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Pizzas with pazzaz |
22 Prince Albert Street The Lanes Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1HF United Kingdom +44 1273 32 3205 http://www.pizzaexpress.co.uk |
A firm favourite across the whole country, Pizza Express always satisfies and rarely disappoints. If the comfort of a nationwide chain, but with plenty of individuality is for you, look no further. The decor is sleek and chic, with clean modern lines throughout. Despite dark flooring; the strategic lighting and bright touches gives the interior a warm, but elegant feel. In some branches (Hove), the pizzas are prepared and cooked in an open plan kitchen so you can see what is going on. As far as clientele goes, it attracts just about everyone but seems particularly popular with the younger generation. My personal favourite is the American Hot, fabulous succulent pepperoni, with a beautifully crisp base. Add a drizzle of their spicy oils and hey presto! Of course, the selection of Italian and French wines will help to put out the heat. The branch at Church Road, Hove, has jazz music sessions at 7:30p every Tuesday. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Bold, beautiful brasserie |
102-106 Western Road Hove Brighton, East Sussex BN3 1FA United Kingdom +44 1273 72 0058 |
Large and lively, Richards is situated on the Hove border. Not the best of views, but to be seated outside on a warm day is relaxing, especially if there's food involved. If dining indoors, sunny yellow walls are cheery and bright. The service here is excellent and staff most helpful. Sunday breakfasts are a treat, being so well presented (and always with a smile). Be sure to arrive before 11am as crowds do gather. A daytime menu is available until 6pm including pasta, salads, main courses, desserts, ices and cakes. There's a good selection of drinks and also cocktails at reasonable prices. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cool cafe bar at Seven Dials |
95-97 Dyke Road Brighton, East Sussex BN1 3SU United Kingdom +44 1273 77 7575 http://www.tindrum.co.uk |
The Tin Drum can be found at the Seven Dials, a 10 minute walk from Churchill Square. No-one would believe that in a previous incarnation this lively cafe bar was once a late night supermarket. The spacious interior now has large windows at the front, ambient lighting and brightly painted back walls. Wooden furniture, books on shelves and local art work add a homely touch. The Tin Drum is also child friendly and high chairs & crayons can be provided. The food menu has a Polish slant and is extremely inviting. Starters include delights such as goats cheese and red onion tartlets. Mains are equally good. Try potato rosti with sauerkraut and apple topped with poached egg and gruyere. Review © 2007, Wcities |
