Culinary worship of the Orient |
Brighton Marina, West Jetty Brighton, East Sussex BN2 5WA United Kingdom +44 1273 81 9053 http://www.brightonpagoda.co.u... |
The inside of the floating Brighton Pagoda is rather old and traditional, but gives a warm and cosy ambience. The best thing about this restaurant is the view over the sea. The Pagoda has a bright upper deck and a more subdued lower deck, for evening dining. With seating for over 100 - it could be the ideal venue for parties. The menu is quite extensive and should feature something for every taste. The shredded duck spring roll starter was delicious at just over £3 and for mains no dish tops £6.50. The fillet of beef was good, if a little dry, but vegetarians are also amply catered for. Review © 2007, Wcities |

French frolics |
40 St James Street Kemp Town Brighton, East Sussex BN2 1RG United Kingdom +44 1273 60 3740 |
Cafe de Paris has been well established in Kemp Town for several years. Food is of high quality and several set menus are good value at £8.95 and £10.95 per head. Main courses are all around the £8.00 mark. Vegetarians may be disappointed as meatless options are limited so if you don't eat flesh or fish it's probably wise to dine elsewhere. Be sure to book at weekends as this is a highly popular restaurant, especially with hen parties. Groups are actively encouraged to dance on tables and party the night away. Review © 2007, Wcities |

28 Sydney Street Brighton, East Sussex BN1 4EP United Kingdom +44 1273 60 2526 |
If you want to grab some breakfast with Brighton locals, then this might be the place for you. It looks like it was designed by a new age hippie straight out of art college, and in fact it probably was. Staff and customers are friendly and relaxed. Full breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, pies and all manner of filling fodder will have you pushing your plate away in satisfied surrender. There is equal choice and value for vegetarians too. If you're not hungry, then grab a tea, creamy hot chocolate or generous "mugachino" and take a seat out on the pavement and let Brighton bustle by. Review © 2007, Wcities |

100% vegetarian pub |
5 Trafalgar Street North Laine Brighton, East Sussex BN1 4EQ United Kingdom +44 1273 68 1055 |
This is Brighton's only exclusively vegetarian pub. It is a fine place with a lively, friendly atmosphere and a fireplace. The clientele tends to be local people coming in after work for a few pints. On Friday nights and at weekends the pub attracts a younger crowd. The walled beer garden is extremely pleasant and is heated in winter. The menu features a fantastic range of vegetarian/vegan food which comes in huge portions at very cheap prices. The home-made vegeburgers are lovely. Speciality vegetarian beers include Hoegaarden (a seriously classy, fruity lager), Staropramen, which is a fine Czech lager and a few more standard lagers, bitters and ciders; and of course a range of spirits and organic wine. . 51 St Georges Road Kemptown Brighton, East Sussex BN2 1EP United Kingdom +44 1273 62 3331 |
Kemp Spices is situated in deepest Kemp Town, almost opposite the Hanbury Arms public house and about a 20 minute walk from the Old Steine. This popular, local venue can become busy at weekends. The surroundings are pleasant, spacious and clean. The menu is varied, and the Balti Sab Jalfrezi, a fine mixture of vegetables with tomatoes in a very spicy sauce, is especially recommended for lovers of hot curries. For a milder dish Kabuli Mutter containing potato, chick peas and mushrooms is a tasty vegetarian treat. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Small but beautifully laid out, this cafe maintains a cosy feel despite the ultra-modern look and windows for walls. The short, snacky, but imaginative, food menu is available midday-9pm. There is a tempting range of "Big Baps" from £2.95, a selection of nibbles such as chinese spring rolls with sauce for £2.75 and delicious desserts too. The food is described as "positively organic, definitely vegan". The wine list is organic, as is the fresh juice menu. Crave-worthy Noodle Canteen |
30 Kensington Street (Argus Building) Brighton BN1 4AJ United Kingdom + 44 0 1273 688 892 http://www.wagamama.com |
Wagamama serves up a pan-Asian cuisine that features a fusion of eclectic traditional favorites with modern flavors. The fare is made fresh and all items are featured on a dietary menu, allowing guests full access to the ingredients in their food. Orders are taken via electronic pads, meaning that preparation begins in the kitchen as soon as you have made a choice on what to order. Dishes come to the table in the order that they are prepared, which can be problematic for groups who want to eat together. Start off with a range of dumplings, or dive right into the kare noodle soups. The atmosphere is also a major draw with lots of open, light space and minimalist décor. The end result is a dining experience that has only grown in popularity as new locations have opened worldwide. Review © 2007, Wcities |
