The Acacia Ridge Half Pipe is one of 21 suburban skate facilities and six more major skate parks exist in Brisbane. The Caboolture Air Sports Centre made its home at the Caboolture Air Field in 1996 and specialises in aerial activities such as tandem skydiving, gliding and ballooning. The airfield welcomes visiting pilots and permission is not required as long as local air rules are obeyed. The hour-long flight is a wonderful thrill, as you ride in a traditional wicker basket under the professional guidance of experts. All flights include a delightful champagne breakfast. Owner operator Steve Griffin was the first person to fly solo across Australia. He has also represented Australia and some of his ballooning achievements are listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to enter a futuristic battleground for an exciting laser tag game. Score points by zapping enemy forces, evading the dreaded Warbots and avoiding friendly fire. The battleground is a 600 square metre, darkened maze set on two floors. Players wear Battlesuits linked to a real-time system, which automatically updates scores. Shoulder mounted speakers produce speech messages and sound effects throughout the game. Rope climbs, free climb or inverted climb? Take your pick at Vertical Assault. If it is raining outside fear not, the walls are completely enclosed. Colour-coded handholds differentiate the climbs from blue for beginners up to black for the professionals. Yellow, green and red are also available for the intermediates, each a step up in climbing difficulty. There is also plenty of room to sit down and rest with an energy drink available from the kiosk.
