Amazons has a fantastic range of water slides for the adventurous, including the new "Flume of Doom" and gentler attractions for those looking for a more relaxing day. To steal a phrase, Aquatic Achievers is the one-stop-shop for those who want to learn swimming. The school's home is the impressive Sleeman Sports Complex, purpose built to house the 1982 Commonwealth Games. Junior programs range from nursery level to stroke correction and use a color code progression system. Groups are kept small to encourage a one-on-one rapport with the trainer. The controlled breathing method assists those people who have asthma. Additional training can be arranged, including an essential child resuscitation course for parents. Fancy a paddle up the river? Hire a canoe at Colleges Crossing and paddle the four and a half kilometers upriver to the Mount Crosby treatment plant-a good two hours away. Canoes seat two and can be paddled by most ages, however children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Life-jackets are provided. At the time of writing canoe hire was only available on weekends however plans were underway for weekday sessions during school holidays. A kiosk operates every day at the site. Call for directions. With over 200 clubs on its books, it assists with classes and training by providing administrative support. Training is available for all levels and sailing disciplines. Licences required by Queensland Transport and relevant accredited TAFE course disciplines are also provided, along with administration issues such as management of sailing events and the interpretation of sailing rules.
