Built in 1868 as the home of the first Anglican Bishop of Brisbane, this stately sandstone building is shaded by a surround of arcades on two levels of the large rectangular classic shape. The slate roof has many double chimneys and the iron balustrade on the upper level is an intricate design. Adjacent stands the chapel, a simple building of rough-faced stone, dedicated in 1912. Inside the rough porphyry gives a feeling of going way back in time, almost middle ages! Very spiritual. Both buildings are now part of the Theological College--entrances Milton Road and Baroona Road. Review © 2009, Wcities |
