Strange but true - a kind of supermarket hierarchy exists in England, with ultra-posh Waitrose being at the top and Sainsbury's coming approximately second! It's all to do with branding of course, plus the number of exotic and deli-like items the stores sell, and Sainsbury's scores particularly well by this criteria. Along with all the household products, toiletries and tinned food you'd expect, there is a fresh fish counter and meat and delicatessen section, offering a range of cheeses, cold meats, bacon and sausages etc. There's also an in-store bakery and a comprehensive wine and spirits section.
