Smart suits for that tailored look |
59 Queens Road Clifton Bristol BS4 5HS United Kingdom +44 117 909 9948 |
If you want to look like a well-bred Englishman, head here. They stock very traditional and well-tailored suits, plus a wide range of accessories such as jackets, trousers, shirts, and ties. You won't find any "trendy" innovations like nehru collars and specially-creased shirts here - everything has the unmistakable look of conventionality, albeit that of a very high-class. So, naturally the service is of the old-fashioned and friendly variety and the assistants will talk you through the brands stocked, such as Odermark-Magee, Van Heusen etc. If you want to look really posh, they have a made-to-measure service on suits - this normally takes around six weeks but for an extra fee you can get it done in two. Children's toys with an educational slant |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5DG United Kingdom +44 117 950 8775 http://www.elc.co.uk |
If you're tired of shelling out for the disposable bits of plastic that pass for toys these days, head here - you'll find masses of toys for babies and young children that actually teach them something and help them develop. For the early years there is a staggering choice of soft cuddly toys, musical mobiles, fabric story books and wipe clean jungle crawl mats. For older children there are wooden railway sets, arts and crafts materials, modelling tools and electronic toys - sing-a-long radio cassette recorders, echo microphones and more. There are also sport and activity toys for outdoor play such as slides, scramble nets and swings. The shop has a very hands-on approach and a children's play area - come weekends it's more like a rowdy nursery than a shop! There is a second branch inside the Galleries Shopping Centre in the city centre. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A world of hobby games |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5DG United Kingdom +44 117 959 2528 http://www.games-workshop.co.uk |
Don't know if you've noticed yet, but there are rather a lot of rainy days in England. If you've been stuck inside for ages, exhausted all the museums and galleries and need something to occupy yourself with, head to this place and buy yourself a game. You'll find some traditional board games, but it's primarily about playing table-top battles and games enthusiast flock here from miles around. Players use armies consisting of painted scale models, usually about 30mm in height - first you buy the miniatures and assemble them and then paint and arrange them into their own particular regiments. There are a huge variety of troop types to choose from such as Reiksguard knights, Chaos warriors, Dragon Princes plus many more. During the week the shop hosts themed events where customers are invited to join in. Even if you hate games, call in - it's a great example of British eccentricity! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Look like a perfect gentleman |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5UR United Kingdom +44 117 959 2880 |
Jaeger is a well-established and highly regarded label, that has come to be known for its well-made classics, favored by the wealthy - perfect if you've been invited to one of the Queen's garden parties! Their menswear collection offers a contemporary range of clothes in soft muted colors and natural fabrics. There are some extremely elegant business suits in fine Italian wools and an extensive choice of business shirts and silk ties. There is also a good range of casual wear with fashionable soft knits, poplin and twill button down shirts, lightweight casual jackets and a choice of rainwear. It's all rather conventional and traditional - if you want high fashion try elsewhere - but if you feel the need to look like an English gentleman, look no further. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wonderful, old-fashioned department store |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5QU United Kingdom +44 117 959 1100 http://www.johnlewis.co.uk |
There's a certain snob value attached to John Lewis and it's regarded as quite a high-class department store. We're not talking Harrods here, but it's true that everything they sell is of top quality and there's definitely a slightly quaint and old fashioned feel to the place, look lost for just a second (not hard as the place is vast) and there will be an assistant at your side. There are four floors selling virtually everything you can think of, fashion, childrenswear, sports and leisure equipment, home furnishings, garden furniture, computers, foods and washing machines. It's perfect for locating those hard-to-find items such as buttons, designer labels for those over 40 and unique gifts. On the second floor is a licensed restaurant, you'll need to keep your strength up if you're shopping here, the range of stuff on offer can become slightly overwhelming. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sexy and beautiful lingerie |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5DG United Kingdom +44 117 950 9930 |
La Senza sells a range of lingerie and nightclothes that are popular with those over-30 in particular. Perhaps this is because they are not led by fashion especially—no gravity—defying, leopard-print push-up bras here—and tend to offer quite traditional styles, with the odd surprise here and there. Whether you favour the glamorous look—ultra feminine, lace-edged bra and brief sets in stunning reds, pinks or black, or even feather boas—or prefer comfort—try the full length towelling dressing gowns with hoods and the warm pyjamas—there's something here to suit most. A really nice touch is that all purchases are tissue—wrapped in boxes containing scented beads, making them perfect presents. A big plus are the pleasant changing rooms—i.e. you get your own room! Enormous, out-of-town shopping centre |
Near Highwood Lane & Lysander Road On Highway J17 Bristol BS34 5DG United Kingdom +44 (0)117 903 0303 http://www.mallcribbs.com |
This is shopping American-style, in a large, air conditioned Mall. Built on two levels, the architecture was designed for maximum use of light, hence its glass roof and large windows, which makes it rather a pleasant and airy place to "shop till you drop". Easy to do, as there are 134 top-name stores to choose from, including Marks and Spencers, John Lewis (closed on Mondays), Top Shop/Top Man and Next etc. There are 15 food outlets, including the large Food Court which seats over 1,000 people, where you can get a snack, coffee or full meal. There are cash machines on both levels and a creche for children aged between two and nine. It's well-served by bus from the city centre and there's plenty of parking - it takes around 20 minutes from the city centre. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Exotic colours and wonderful prints |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5DG United Kingdom |
Monsoon is known for its bohemian-chic look and the deep, rich colours and patterns that characterize their clothes - both of which hold the key to their appeal. This is a place for those who have grown out of the little-girl-in-lycra style and want something more sophisticated - expect a corresponding hike in prices. Many of the clothes have an Oriental and exotic look to them with some of the dresses styled in Chinese fashion and there are some very beautiful evening gowns in deep blue velvets, rich reds and iridescent fabrics. They also sell accessories such as hats, scarves and handbags plus kid's clothes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Catwalk fashion for the young, trendy and very skinny! |
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway Bristol BS34 5UR United Kingdom http://www.morgandetoi.com |
Colourful and chic outfits which reflect the current fashion trends are the hallmarks of this shop for young women - fringed skirts, embroidered shawls, delicate and skin-tight dresses, T-shirts, leopard prints etc. Basically, it offers a watered-down version of catwalk looks and is favoured by the city's young clubbers. This is sexy, figure-hugging stuff, with a certain high-class hooker trashy look, that's perfect for a night on the town. There are a range of accessories to compliment the clothes such as strappy shoes, mules, bags and fashionable jewellery. A word of warning - all the clothes tend to come in one size only i.e. very small and for the seriously skinny only. There is a second branch of this shop on Union Street in the Broadmead area of the city centre. Review © 2007, Wcities |
