Classic cinema evenings |
Esplanade du Cinquantenaire Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)900 2 0700 http://www.dedi.be |
Movies shown in large multiplexes may be alright for some, but the best atmosphere undeniably has to be the open-air, drive-in cinema. Brussels brings this classic back with the screening of 18 films in their original versions (with French and Dutch subtitles). Shown through a 7,000-watt projector, on a giant screen, this should not be missed. Just tune into your car's FM stereo sound on 97,7 Mhz, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. A triumph for Brussels |
Jubelpark Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 513 8940 (Informatie voor toeristen) |
For the 50th anniversary of Belgian independence in 1880, King Leopold II commissioned the creation of this park and its grandiose triumphal arch. Today, you can visit some of its museums, Autoworld and the Jubelpark Museum, or you can rest on the plush lawn and admire the solemn manor houses. The Great Mosque and the Temple of Human Passions (Victor Horta's first monument) can also be found here. Every year on July 21st, on the occasion of National Festival Day, there is an evening fireworks display. Jubelpark is an ideal spot for everyone. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Belgium's National Day |
Rue de la Régence Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 513 8940 (Informatie voor toeristen) |
Although this National Festival held each year on July 21 is celebrated in all regions of Belgium, it is, of course, in Brussels where most of the exciting action happens. Every year, the celebrations take place in the Rue de la Régence and include street theatre, puppets and folk dances, among other fun performances. Additional activities, military parades (beginning at 3p) and processions take place in front of the Royal Palace. By far, the highlight of the day is the fantastic fireworks display on the Place des Palais at 11p. Review © 2007, Wcities |
