Circus art |
18 Rue de la Glacière Brussels 1060 Belgium +32 (0)2 538 1202 http://www.catastrophe.be/ |
This eight year old institute is dedicated to the promotion of street, circus and clown art. An exclusive venue, it gives people the opportunity to explore their talent in this off-mainstream career. The staff has chalked out an interesting program, which is divided into four sections according to the group it caters to. The institute is flocked by tourists as well as locals, and the training sessions run from one and a half hours to 40 hours a week! Rooms for practicing and learning are provided. They also organize several festivals like Pistes de Lancement and C'est du Jamais Vu, which are eagerly awaited. The unique, art-promoting venue is an interesting place to meet some interesting personalities and of course, to learn from them. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A circus extravaganza |
18 Rue de la Glacière Espace Catastrophe Brussels 1060 Belgium +32 (0)2 513 8940 (Informatie voor toeristen) http://www.netevents.be/Events... |
For nearly a month around March, clowns, trapeze artists, street performers, mimes and acrobats from all over Europe converge on Brussels' Saint-Gilles area. Their antics range from the side-splittingly funny to the absurd. The first few days of the festival focus on smaller-scale shows, from the BMX antics of Tus de Vainqueurs to the comedy acrobatics of Yoppe et Manou. Towards the end of the festival, the Piste Ouvert presents a digest of the best performers and acts. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This wonderful festival is celebrated in the Minimes Church, in July-August in the heart of Les Marolles. Every weekday at 12:15p there is a concert of classical music (although sometimes folk and even bluegrass make the bill), generally performed by a promising young artists, but also sometimes by some established names. It's recommended to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the beginning of the concerts. See the website for a schedule of events. Review © 2007, Wcities |
