http://www.sport.be/memorialva... Ivo van Damme, a talented Belgian runner (winning silver at the Montréal Olympics), died in a car crash. Brussels annually hosts this athletic celebration in his memory. This is a premier track & field grand prix of the world, although part of the IAAF Golden League, the Memorial Van Damme strives to be more than just a grand prix. Instead, it is a celebration for all those involved featuring live music (past artists featured have included disco-diva Gloria Gaynor), and a show-closing gigantic fireworks display.
