Lobby Lounge

Lovely place for afternoon tea
71 Avenue Louise
Conrad International Hotel
Brussels 1050
Belgium

Located in the lobby of the Conrad International Brussels, you'll find that the lovely lounge offers morning coffee, a quick lunch, afternoon tea and early evening drinks. It's an ideal place to relax with a book and equally as good a place to talk business. The interior of the lounge is lovely and the chairs are very comfortable. You find all sorts of people here. Sandwiches are available from noon-7pm. The traditional favorites such as ham and cheese and marinated salmon with lettuce and tomato are available.

Romantic atmosphere in antique surroundings
30 Rue Berckmans
Brussels 1060
Belgium

Antique furnishings, old chandeliers, a pair of statues and a striking baker's cabinet lend to the quaint and cozy atmosphere of this restaurant, located in an early 19th century house at the edge of the Forêt des Soignes. The Franco-Belgian menu is top quality. The service, like the atmosphere, is friendly, relaxed and definitely unpretentious. At midday this is a great stop-off for a cup of coffee and a tasty tart.

Pain Quotidien

A slice of country life
11 Rue des Sablons 11
Brussels 1000
Belgium

It's found in Paris and New York, but this internationally renowned bakery is a Belgian invention, and many folks admit that this is still the best bread in the city. In truth, it's not just a bakery, but also a patisserie, delicatessen, snack bar and coffee house. Their farmers' bread is still baked by artisans. This shop (as well as its 10 other Brussels locations) has a provincial atmosphere, decorated with pine furniture and cream-coloured walls. The menu includes a selection of open sandwiches (try the typical cheese platter with radish and onions), salads and tarts.
