Au Brabançon

Try it!
75 Rue de la Commune
Brussels 1210
Belgium
+32 (0)2 217 7191
Choesels au Madère is a traditional Belgian delicacy. The meat is simmered for hours in a tasty Madeira Sauce to give it that divine flavor. Au Brabançon, a conventional restaurant, is one of the few places in Brussels where you can still savor this dish in case you are a big fan of it. You are bound to love the place for its sumptuous food, great ambience and affordable prices!

Brasseries Georges

A little bit of Paris in Brussels
259 Avenue Winston Churchill
Brussels 1180
Belgium

You'll find this typical Parisian brasserie next to Bois de la Cambre. Smart waiters welcome you at the entrance right next to a wonderful display of fresh fish, shellfish, lobsters and other sea treasures. You can take out your plateau de fruits de mer for - why not? A chic picnic in the woods. The ambiance of the restaurant is cosy, relaxing and friendly, and you can rub shoulders with the local beau monde. Prices aren't very low, but it's good value.

De Ultieme Hallucinatie

Great young hang-out
316 Koningstraat
Brussels 1210
Belgium

The interior of this magnificent restaurant is stunning, featuring wooden benches supplied from an antique tram. It is an excellent choice for a quiet meal. The kitchen serves up modern French cuisine at reasonable prices. The house specialties are fish and wild game. Try the delicious endive salad with smoked salmon. The restaurant's name refers to one of the rather unusual habits of Victor Horta, the great art nouveau architect. He grew mushrooms in his cellar, but not to eat.

Passage to India

Rice, spice and more
Chaussee de Louvain 223
Brussels 1210
Belgium
+32 (0)2 735 3147
http://www.passage2india.be
The exquisite oil lamps and the enticing aroma wouldn't let you ignore this place. Famous for their cooked to perfection curries and biryanis, Passage to India is one of the few Indian restaurants that serves scampi and beef. Try the well-marinated tikka kebab or chicken chaat for starters or even the innovative mutton samosa. Pick from dhansak, pasanda, vindaloo, rogen josh and madras curries, depending on the degree of spice you savor. Your meal is incomplete here without having a go at the biryani, which is an authentically flavored combination of rice and meat. All this at a price which doesn't weigh you down. They also offer the take-away and home delivery option.
