High fashion |
63-64 Boulevard de Waterloo Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 511 8559 http://www.versace.com/ |
Gianni Versace was a very famous designer who was shot in front of his own house. There is a large shop on the Boulevard de Waterloo where the Versace line is sold, now designed by his sister Donatella. Only the expensive designs are sold here. It is no use looking around for cheaper designs such as Versace jeans. Versace is better known on the catwalk in Milan or Paris, since it is not everyday clothing. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Maison Natan was founded in 1930, and the business was taken over by designer Edouard Vermeulen in 1983. Since then, business is booming. Natan now runs seven stores, some of which are in Germany, and two of which are in Brussels. This one, an imposing mansion where the brand was founded, is truly magnificent. A slice of country life |
11 Rue des Sablons 11 Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 513 5154 http://www.painquotidien.com/ |
It's found in Paris and New York, but this internationally renowned bakery is a Belgian invention, and many folks admit that this is still the best bread in the city. In truth, it's not just a bakery, but also a patisserie, delicatessen, snack bar and coffee house. Their farmers' bread is still baked by artisans. This shop (as well as its 10 other Brussels locations) has a provincial atmosphere, decorated with pine furniture and cream-coloured walls. The menu includes a selection of open sandwiches (try the typical cheese platter with radish and onions), salads and tarts. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Spanish bookshop |
115 Rue Stévin 115a Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 230 1029 |
Punto y Coma is a Spanish bookshop run by a native Spaniard. He speaks French, but it is easier to speak Spanish with him. All books are in Spanish. All you need is a warm day and you can imagine yourself way down south. The manager goes to Spain regularly to buy the books that are sold here. If anything is out of stock, just ask him to order it for you. Besides the books there are also video films. Review © 2007, Wcities |
