Lots of different things |
13 Rue Neuve Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 227 5210 http://www.hema.be/SITE/HEMA-F... |
This Dutch store sells a bit of everything for the home, office, kitchen and bathroom, as well as clothing and accessories for men, women and children. Prices are usually reasonable, and even their own label wine can be found here. Basic necessities like toiletries can be bought, as well as candles in several sizes, shapes and colours. Hema also develops film. For a great waffle with whipped cream, try the coffee shop located in the centre of the store. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beautiful style arcade |
Avenue du Toison d'Or Brussels 1050 Belgium +32 (0)2 513 8940 (Informatie voor toeristen) |
This is a delightful shopping arcade filled with unique boutiques spanning every price range. There are several lobbies intersecting and criss-crossing through the emporium, so watch that the layout doesn't disorient you. There are some home design boutiques, toyshops and bookshops, but a vast majority of the establishments here sell clothes. There is also a variety of cafés to visit for a quick bite to eat or a rejuvenating drink. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Support a worthy cause while shopping |
137 Anspachlaan Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 511 7529 http://www.oww.be/pageview.asp... |
The OXFAM-Worldshops have been present in Belgian streets for a long time now, but now, at last, they are ridding themselves of the goat's woollen socks image they carried. Responsible shopping has become trendy! Everything you find here (mainly food, but also clothes, toys and souvenirs) is directly obtained from the producers, who for once receive an honest pay for their work. And yes, Cuban coffee may be stylish, but above all it's extremely tasty. And the extra price you pay, you tend to do so with a smile. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The oldest mall in Europe |
rue des Bouchers or carrefour de l'Europe Brussels 1000 Belgium +32 (0)2 513 8940 (Informatie voor toeristen) |
The King, Queen and Prince galleries of St. Hubert (which are over 200 years old) house expensive, old-fashioned boutiques selling a variety of accessories including gloves, hats, hand-bags and jewellery. In 1837, King Leopold I instructed the young architect Jean-Pierre Cluysenaars to turn Rue Saint-Hubert into an arcade. Mission accomplished, this arcade, divided into the King's, Queen's and Prince's galleries, is now one of the most beautiful in the world. There is a nice restaurant, Taverne du Passage, a cosy coffee shop, Mokafe, an excellent cinema, Arenberg Galeries, and even a newsstand. Chocolate lovers should visit Neuheus (25 Galerie de la Reine) and ice cream fans can indulge at the Häagen Dazs located near the front entrance of the gallery. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Convenient shops and food court |
54 Rue Brogniez Brussels 1070 Belgium +32 (0)2 529 9758 (Bureau) http://www.shoppingmidi.be/ |
This has become an increasingly popular station since the arrival of the Thalys, Eurostar and other high-speed trains. Some renovations and the opening of new stores have made this station a decent place to wait before taking a train. The terminal is filled with stores as well as a food court which includes a Haagen Dazs, a pitta stand, a few sandwich places and an Irish pub. There is also a Sbarro pizzeria and a Quick with separate seating. Some of the stores in the terminal include a mini GB-supermarket, Planet Parfume, Cric-Crac candy store, clothing stores, chocolate shops, a news stand, a sock shop and a store for miscellaneous gift items. Small but cosy |
Place Dumon Brussels 1150 Belgium |
Stokkel Square is an arcade on the outskirts of the city. It is not extremely big, but cosy. There is a supermarket, an ice-cream parlour, a café-bar, a newspaper stand, and various shoe and clothes shops. Woluwe-Saint-Pierre is a rich municipality and the inhabitants are used to paying more for brands and for quality clothes. Do visit Stockel underground station; there's a two metres by fifty mural depecting all the characters from Tintin. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Neither Tour nor Taxi! |
Avenue du Port 86c Brussels 1000b Belgium +32 24 20 60 69 http://www.tourtaxis.com |
The name "Tour & Taxis" comes from the French version of "Thurn und Tassis", the name of the family that pioneered early European postal service. The building, constructed as a Royal Warehouse at the turn of the 20th century, was used as a major hub of Belgian and European trade until 1987. The large warehouse is home to many fine restaurants, numerous shops and boutiques, as well as a theatre that hosts musical, theatrical, and other performances. Review © 2007, Wcities |
