On the highway from Vienna |
Budaorsi ut, 88-90 District XI Budapest 1112 Hungary +36 1 310 2999 |
This hotel catches your attention if you are driving into the city from the main Vienna highway as it has a large sign, advertising its room rates. It may be just what you are looking for, especially if you don't want to face trying to drive into the congested center. The rooms are large and comfortable, decorated in modern colors, with new furniture. The location is close enough to the center (half an hour by public transport), and also allows for easy, traffic-free morning departures out of town. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Spa hotel |
Szent Gellert ter, 1 (District XI) Budapest 1111 Hungary +36 1 889 5501 http://www.danubiushotels.com |
Built between 1912 and 1918, this Art Nouveau spa hotel was destroyed in World War II, then rebuilt in the original style and modernized. The hotel's domed towers and baths give it an oriental flavor. There are baths, plunge pools, a sauna, massage centre, wave pool (built in 1927), a hot pool with medicinal spa water, as well as a sun terrace. An institute of water therapy also operates on the premises. The hotel has a delightful open-air restaurant terrace, which offers great views. There are four more cafés and restaurants to choose from inside. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Budget hotel with a view |
Citadella setany Budapest 1118 Hungary +36 1 466 5794 http://www.citadella.hu/ |
This budget hotel offers some of the most spectacular views in the city as it is perched at the very top of Gellert Hill, inside the historic Citadella. To get there, you could either walk through the park from the Elizabeth bridge or take a bus (27) that goes almost all the way. For a location like this with magnificent views, you would expect to pay a fortune, but the Citadella is one of Budapest's best bargains. It's not luxurious, but it is certainly very memorable. There are private rooms as well as dorm beds, which are extremely cheap. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Situated in an interesting area |
Bartok Bela ut, 152 District XI Budapest 1113 Hungary +36 1 204 0044 |
This three-star hotel offers good service at reasonable prices. All rooms have a mini-bar, as well as satellite TV and telephones. Breakfast is included in the price, making this a real bargain. The hotel is located within easy bus range of such sights as Gellert Hill and the Gellert Hotel and Thermal Baths. It's also only a short ride (perhaps fifteen minutes) to Castle Hill. The street itself is full of small and interesting shops, some good traditional restaurants and genuine neighborhood side streets. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Affordable hotel |
Bartok Bela ut, 152 District XI Budapest 1113 Hungary +36 1 203 2398 |
This one-star hotel is located in the same building as its big sister: the three-star Hotel Griff. They are both part of the Eravis hotel chain which converted workers' hostels into hotels throughout the city. These hotels are comfortable and conveniently located on public transit lines-they offer real affordability in different categories. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beautiful complex in Buda hills |
Fodor utca 143 (District XII) Budapest 1124 Hungary +36 1 395 1872 http://www.hotel-molnar.hu |
These two beautiful houses are located in the green and leafy Buda hills, and command spectacular views of the city. They have a large garden in the back, a playground across the road, and both a sauna and small gym. It's definitely worth asking for one of the rooms with a big balcony (at no extra charge); the biggest one is actually bigger than the room itself! Deck chairs and cushions are provided so you can enjoy sunning yourself on your own terrace. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This upmarket panzio can be found on the Budapest side of the city boundary. It is located in a quiet area and Rupp-hegy (hill) which is 257 meters high and is within a five-minute walk. Stoczek utca 5-7 District XI Budapest 1111 Hungary +36 309 11 5755 |
This summer-only hotel has a whopping 185 rooms. Rooms at this price are a bargain and the location is quite good: not far from Gellert hill and the University buildings. Facilities are rather limited but there is parking and wheelchair access. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Situated in a park |
Tas vezer utca, 7 District XI Budapest 1114 Hungary +36 1 889 5600 http://www.danubiusgroup.com/f... |
Follow the signs for this hotel as you drive in on the highway from Vienna. It's a big hotel set in calm and peaceful surroundings overlooking a park. There are recreational facilities nearby, as well as some good restaurants. Getting to the centre takes less than twenty five minutes by public transport. It should be noted that the lower-floor rooms are slightly cheaper. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Comfortable sporty feeling hotel |
Torokbalinti ut, 51-53 District XII Budapest 1112 Hungary +36 1 246 4643 |
This is more like a panzio (a traditional Hungarian inn) than a formal hotel. It has tennis courts in a large open front yard, lots of greenery all around and a swimming pool thrown in as a bonus. On top of that, it is situated in one of the greenest and quietest areas of Budapest: the twelfth district. Public transport to the centre is available, with the one-way trip taking approximately half an hour. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Affordable Buda side hotel |
Menesi ut 5 District XI Budapest 1118 Hungary +36 1 386 9989 |
This large hotel offers simple and comfortable rooms at a good price. The location is also quite good, and is near Gellert hill. There are 170 rooms and even a swimming pool. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel are some interesting old streets, and walking all the way to the top of Gellert Hill from here is a very rewarding experience. If you really want to have some wonderful panoramas, then resist the temptation to take the bus to the top. The walk is infinitely more rewarding, and only takes about fifteen minutes.
