Central, affordable one-star hotel |
Madach Imre utca, 3 District VII Budapest 1075 Hungary +36 1 391 4258 |
If you want to be in the very heart of the city, then this may well be the place for you. It is only a small hotel (thirteen rooms) but the location is amazing. All the Metro lines are close by so it is possible to get virtually anywhere in Budapest in minutes. Book well ahead for a room as it often gets very busy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Small family-run guesthouse |
Wesselenyi utca, 87 District XX Budapest 1201 Hungary +36 1 284 2887 http://baipanzio.freeweb.hu |
This guesthouse is located outside the city centre but access to downtown is not too complicated. Connections are quick and easy if you take the Green Hev train, which will have you near the centre in around twelve minutes. Parking facilities are available, dogs are welcomed and room service is offered. There are only six rooms, so the atmosphere is intimate and friendly. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Actually a boat |
Királyok útja 261 District III Budapest 1039 Hungary +36 1 387 9329 |
If you're looking for a unique Budapest hotel experience, then you won't go wrong with the Dunapart. It is in fact a permanently moored boat on the Danube, almost directly across from the parliament buildings. The rooms are the actual ship's cabins, with the same style of beds and the same rather confined space. It is definitely worth a look. The boat is within an easy walk of many sights and of course the Danube is right outside the window... Review © 2007, Wcities |

Small inexpensive guest house |
Haros utca, 125 District XXII Budapest 1222 Hungary +36 1 226 7309 |
The twenty-second district is a little out of the way, but it is quiet and has good access to the center via public transit. This guest house has ten rooms, and offers a range of services, including a bureau de change. Parking facilities are also available. The main advantage to staying here is the fact that it is surrounded by relatively empty green areas. These are slowly vanishing, but some of them are being preserved, and they offer clean air, birds, nature and peace and quiet. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Apartment hotel with views |
Harshegyi ut, 5-7 District II Budapest 1021 Hungary +36 1 391 2300 |
This apartment-only hotel is up in the hills and therefore offers terrific views over the city. All apartments are self-catering and contain kitchens, which is both convenient and cost-saving. Thirteen of the apartments are doubles and seventy-eight can cater for three adults, or two adults and two children. The location is a good one: the center can be reached in less than half an hour by public transport. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hotel Aqaurius is situated in Nagyteteny, which is the main wine producing area of Hungary. The hotel has an interesting mix of old world charm with new world facilities. Rooms are exclusive as far their interiors are concrened and are specially designed with the handicapped and people suffering from allergies in mind. Enjoy the calm and silence of this place and give your tired nerves a much needed break at the spa with a rejuvenating massage. Affordable two-star hotel |
Punkosdfurdo utca, 38 District III Budapest 1039 Hungary +36 1 250 3184 |
This two-star hotel is located outside the city centre, near a hot bath and swimming pool complex. It offers excellent service and accommodation at a reasonable price. Like the other Gerand hotels, it was once a worker's hostel during the Communist regime. This chain have done a commendable job of renovating what used to be rather dreary places. There are easy public transport connections to the centre, while the immediate area offers some interesting walks, providing some insight into the daily lives of many of the city's citizens. Buda side and affordable |
Gyepu utca 4-6 District XXII Budapest 1224 Hungary +36 1 226 9128 |
This medium-sized panzio-motel is located on the Buda side not too far from the Danube. With seventeen rooms, it offers a wide range of services including parking, a restaurant, laundry and so on. Its link to the city centre is bus number 113. The location is also a good one if you're interested in exploring the Buda Hills. Other advantages of the Buda side are that it is generally less congested, and the air is cleaner than in Pest. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Small family-run panzio |
Kossuth Lajos utca 42 District XIX Budapest 1195 Hungary +36 1 280 2489 |
This is yet another of the family-run panzios out off the Ulloi utca. You get there by taking the M3 to the last stop. It is on a street named after a Hungarian hero: in fact, all the streets in this old-fashioned neighborhood are named after heroes. The Sziszi Panzio sounds funny in English as it is pronounced sissy. The surrounding area is one of the nicer Pest side residential regions. Walking through some of the smaller streets is quite interesting, and offers insights into daily life here. Do not be startled as you stroll by the seemingly endless number of barking dogs who are safely tucked away behind fences. Review © 2007, Wcities |
