America's quintessential melting pot, home of the spicy chicken wing and beef on weck, Buffalo has gone from 19th century industrial behemoth to 21st century high tech powerhouse--without losing the charm that makes it The City of Good Neighbors.

If you're looking for an authentic old-style saloon look and feel, this Chippewa Club Zone establishment is definitely up your alley. The food is pub grub with dishes such as chicken wings, beef-on-weck, and fried bologna. In existence since 1910 and currently run by the Lakeview Brewing Company (yes, they brew their own), the tavern attracts a crowd of college students and downtown regulars who are deep into sports. It's antique saloon-style all the way with a piano, barrel tables, and hunting plaques on the walls.

Built in 1833 and standing 68 feet tall, the structure remained dark until 1987 when it was re-lit for the first Friendship Festival. After restoration that started in 1985, the lighthouse is now a Buffalo Lighthouse Association museum. The lighthouse is open for group tours and by appointment, but the 1,400-foot South Pier Promenade and Lighthouse Point grounds nearby are open daily.
