According to legend, dragon boat races have been an annual event since 277 BC when Chinese fishermen hurried to rescue a revered poet. In Calgary, this weekend race and festival has been held on the Glenmore Reservoir since 1992. In addition to the exciting races, the event features Chinese dancers, martial arts demonstrations, theatre, ethnic food, lion dances and fashion shows. The cultural exposition is not limited to Asia; a recent festival featured music and dance from the Ukraine, Russia and Latin America. This is a free event. Review © 2009, Wcities
