Buddha's Veggie Restaurant

Satisfying vegetarian cuisine
5802 Macleod Trail South West
Calgary, AB T2H 0J8
Canada
+1 403 252 8830
http://www.buddhasveggie.com/
The spare, elegant lines of Buddha's provide few distractions from the wide variety of Asian-influenced vegetarian dishes on its menu. About 20 tables dressed in simple red and white provide ample room for up to 100 people to enjoy many pure vegetarian meals, some of which feature meat substitutes so convincing in flavor and texture, you would swear it was the real thing. The servers are prompt and efficient, and customers never have to wait long to find tables or order meals. Because every meal is vegetarian or vegan, prices for comparable servings are less expensive than in restaurants with meat in their dishes. Domestic, European and Asian wines and beers are available for CAD 4-6 apiece.

Canada
+1 403 248 2711

A rarity outside downtown's Chinatown enclave, here is a Chinese restaurant meant as much more than a front for a takeout and delivery operation. Spacious and airy, with tall windows and soaring ceilings, this Peking-oriented stop does its biggest trade with the buffet crowd. Lunchtime and dinner packs in the northeast industrial office belt crowd for quality all-they-can-handle plates of gingered beef and other specialties served at a large buffet.

This cozy little noodle house does a booming business these days, partly due to the fact that people are more health conscious and dodging the burger and fries trip. The other reason is the great tasting food. Fat Kee offers delicious Asian fare like spring rolls and noodles, at really reasonable prices. Choose from their soups and noodle dishes along with three kinds of rice and a choice of chicken, beef or rib dishes for your entrée.

Leo Fu's specialties are Szechuan dumplings and ginger fried beef; the secret of their special beef, they say, lies in the fact that they only deep-fry the beef for seconds before adding generous spices and sauce. Although the setting is casual dining, the food is definitely not. Their dining room seats about 65 people, and the service is fast and efficient. They specialize in Szechuan and Mandarin cuisine and offer a dozen different type of noodle dishes. They are licensed for beer and wine and offer take-out.

Calgary, AB T2J 3G8
Canada
+1 403 252 6888

This place bills itself as serving the world's largest and most varied Chinese buffet. While that may be hard to verify, it is certainly true there's an awful lot of food here, everything from mainstream Chinese dishes and Japanese sushi to frozen pizzas and an ice cream bar. The deal is simple. Pick up a plate and start browsing the CAD 12-a-head buffet lines, going for refills as often as can be managed. More ambitious diners can choose from raw ingredients bars and have it cooked to specifications by staff at an open Mongolia-style grill. A more traditional dim sum brunch is served on Sundays. Service is in a bright, open room done in soft lilac colors, though the tables are crammed and people are constantly on the move.
