This bright Chinatown restaurant specializes in Hong Kong-style cuisine. The extensive menu features familiar and tasty Chinese specialties including noodles, Chinese barbecue, duck and chicken dishes, curries, seafood, beef and pork dishes, rice bowls and much more. The decor is rather plain and cafeteria-style, but the service is friendly and the big second-floor windows give an excellent view of the busy neighborhood. Come for lunch on the weekend and enjoy some tasty noodles while watching Chinatown bustle below.

There are also salads, pasta and chicken entrees. The wine list features 13 wines available by the glass for about CAD6 each. There is a lounge upstairs and a small patio.

River Café

Calgary's most tranquil dining spot
200 Barclay Parade South West
Calgary, AB T2P 4R5
Canada
+1 403 261 7670

This small, tranquil restaurant is located in a refurbished building among the trees, lawns and wildlife of Prince's Island Park. Surrounded by the Bow River, the setting alone is enough to draw you to its charms. But that isn't all this hot spot has to offer—it features one of the best menus in the city, with wood-fired regional cuisine such as Lentil and Wild Rice Risotto and Flatbread Sandwich of Roasted Caribou. You won't mind paying a little more for this café's winning combination of ambience and flavor.
