Badass Jack's

The freshest and fastest subs and wraps
400 Crowfoot Crest North West
Calgary, AB T3G 2P6
Canada
+1 403 241 2201
http://www.badassjacks.com/loc...
For sandwiches and wraps where you know exactly what you're getting, check out Badass Jack's. The beef here is sliced right off a roast, and the poultry is carved from a rotisserie chicken, directly in front of the customer. There are no real menus here, so you decide exactly what you want on each sandwich, right down to the sauce ingredients. A sub or wrap is usually ready in less than five minutes, making this a good place to grab a quick lunch. There are 10 or 15 tables in the restaurant, which uses deli-style self-service instead of waitstaff.

Casa de la Salsa

Extra cactus paddles, please
2218 Ave SW
Calgary, AB T2P 1B7
Canada
+1 403 264 4777
Since salsa culture has become Calgary's latest craze, the owners of Casa must be smiling smugly: they have been offering the food, music and spirits of Latin America for years. The large menu includes classics such as ceviche, sopes, burritos, and steak and seafood dishes. There are also Italian dishes with a Latin American influence, such as fettuccini with cactus paddles and pizzas topped with chayote squash. There is live music here on weekend nights, and enough tequila and fruity cocktails available to inspire some hot dancing.

This unusual place combines Tex-Mex cuisine with some prime Alberta beef. Aside from a wide selection of fajitas and chicken dishes, you can also order some great Alberta beef as well as burgers and sandwiches. They also offer margaritas at half price on Wednesdays, and if you have a sweet tooth, be sure to check out the pecan/chocolate chip pie. It's big enough for sharing.

Dixon's Public House offers a large and varied menu that takes you back east to the salty breezes of the Canadian Maritimes. Try the Guinness and asparagus soup, or their Jack Daniel's barbecued chicken. Although it's a little out of the way, you will be glad you came to check out the food and charm. The decor is reminiscent of an old British pub with all kinds of memorabilia from the Maritimes that decorate the walls. They also have an upstairs and patio seating is available in the warmer months.

Child friendly coffeehouse
2138 33rd Avenue Southwest
Calgary, AB T2T 1Z6

There can not be many coffeehouses in Calgary that are more comfortable than this one. Located in a renovated house in hip Marda Loop, this cafe is a perfect place to while away the hours over a "cup of joe." The wooden patio is especially inviting, as are the homemade soups and salsas. You can even check your e-mail on the online computer while the kids run amok in a toy-blessed children's area. Who wouldn't love this place?

The adults can sit back and enjoy a real fruit margarita or choose a shot from the largest selection of tequila in Calgary. You can join them for either lunch or supper, and you can choose from foods running the gamut from the very spicy to the very mild. Domestic and imported beers and wines are available. Wrapture

Good, fast, healthy food
314a 10th Street Northwest
Calgary, AB T2N 1V8
Canada
+1 403 270 2704
Wrapture is easily the most satisfying fast food downtown; its hefty and fresh rice, meat and vegetable wraps are often too big to finish in one sitting. This is an excellent choice for people who are tired of over-processed fast food. Customers can dine in or take out, but seating is limited to three or four tables in each restaurant. In the summer, courtyards are fenced off from the street, allowing patrons to dine outside. Along with the tempting array of wraps, there are delectable fruit smoothies made with whole fruit and fresh Alberta milk, made right in front of the customers. Wrap prices range between CAD5-6, coffee is CAD1, and smoothies are CAD3. There is no alcohol served, and reservations are not required.
